Flight1 GNS

Featured Replies

I agree with Bert. It sure sounds like we are missing some information here. It could turn out that Flight 1 is releasing a dumbed down version of 430/530 for use in the flight game thingy that DTG is working on. I have to say though that it is not Flight1's style to dumb down any of their products and yet it says it won't work with our add on switches etc. Strange really. Oh well viva GTN!! They are great!

Flight1 has not done anything much for simmers in a long time...They used to be  the premier vendor for FS9 and FSX ..since P3D came about, they have jumped into the  real world high value simulator hardware bandwagon... kind of like "Elite simming solutions" . But ELITE never was for simmers to begin with..

Nothing wrong with that..but they  yanked away the things we had earlier and moved it over to the other market segment using the P3D pretext. ITs their prerogative but something doesn't seem right..is all. What worked before doesn't work anymore..kind of thing.

Have you got the Flight1 GTN750?

Yeah I do

I can't wait for this, personally. I do have the GTN, but in real life, the GNS is a more common find in most basic GA aircraft nowdays. GTNs are relatively pricey.

I bit the bullet and purchased the GTN750 for P3D. I found it kind of expensive, but it's a business, and we can choose to buy or not. In my opinion, it was worth the purchase, since I use it with multiple aircrafts. I've been a Mustang fan for some time, but I think I'm going to skip that one and just go for the B200 instead, which you also have to purchase again if you use to own the FSX version.

This is great news, I love my GTN's but the GNS is a hugely popular navigator. I've used it IRL and it's nowhere near as intuitive as the GTN, but as long as it's a near likeness of the real GNS, I'm on board!

It's cool that they're doing this

But I'm happy with the GTN's... I've got rw experience with both the 650 and 430 and I prefer the 650.

If I was wealthy enough to own a plane today, the first thing I would get for it would be a GTN/

For me if I was young enough! Same answer. No question!  Sad week for me to see a Beech B55 go down in Virginia with a loss of six lives! A B55 (military T42) was my favorite when I flew! Oh what it would have been like with a GTN750.  Thanks to Milviz and Flight 1 for getting be there in sims!

This is good news indeed, especially  for those who fly FSX-SE or P3D, lost the use of the RXP GNS gauges that only work in FSX-MS, and have not been supported by the author for some time.

Now we will have two supported offerings: Mindstar with a custom GNS gauge and Flight1 with a GNS gauge based on the Garmin Trainer.

Bert

Now if only I am able to pop up and undock it without loss of FPS in P3D ....

could one of you please confirm in P3D V3.3 that when you pop up any gauges and undock it, that you do not have a severe FPS hit?

Manny are you using Nvidia Inspector to set your frame rate? If so you will find that it has a huge hit on FPS. Mine were more than halved when I undocked a pop up.

I ditched using it as an external frame limiter and now all is fine. Maybe other FPS limiters could also have an affect on undocked pop ups.

Cheers

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say the navdata from the GTN can be used with the GNS

No I am not.. Infact I am not using NI at all with my new build.. just the nivdia monitor setup thingi

in my old setup with FSX I could do a pop of the panel and undock it without any issues. and on that same PC I could not do that with the P3D. With my new PC setup (win 7 ) I only have P3D with the latest driver and I am unable to undock any panels without my FPS dropping to 4 or 5FPS.

This is why, even the GTN is not much use to me... It's too small for me to operate within the VC.

So, Are  you saying that this is not a P3D issue?

Didn't we used to do that once? Go to Garmin and get the database for their Demo units and replace it for the 530unit? I have done that.. I have updated the realtyxp units that way.

I undock my GTN 650 with zero impact on FPS and can even make it any size I want.
