October 17, 20169 yr I run high settings also with no issue of OOM. And like Phillip I do not use any bloom or tools for bloom nor do I use AI. I went to KMCI with global, OrbxLC, and UTX with high settings in the NGX and stayed steady at 1.4 g remaining. Sean Green
October 17, 20169 yr I think listing exactly what add-ons we all use might be a good way to maybe be able to find some common ground for all of us seeing these VAS issues. These are the add-ons I normally use airports excluded: HDEv2 or ASCA cloud and sky textures vPilot MyTraffic 6 AI models (only the models and not the application itself) PMDG NGX FS2Crew VAInterface GSX FSFX PrecipitFX and 737 Immersion FSUIPC AS16 Orbx FTX Global, openLC and Vector FS Global Ultimate Africa-Europe Should mention though that last time I tried a clean and full install of 3.4 I never installed Orbx openLC and Vector and I still had the same bad VAS situation so doesn't appear to be one of those causing the issues.
October 17, 20169 yr OOM happens but not always. As I said the other day, i managed to fly from OMDB to LOWW and LGAV in pmdg 77W, real time, no acceleration, smooth and nice ride. But also, got OOM from YSSY to VHHH half an hour after takeoff. Same thing happens with the 737 version, some flights are smooth, intra European routes (Croatia - Scandinavia, Mediteranean - Scandinavia, Germany, USA flights) but then again i get OOM in mid flight. When changing views in flight OOM will happen whitout a doubt. I just miss looking around the airport and around the aircraft. October 17, 20169 yr The main reason reason for VAS problems are add on airports in general. The greater the detail the bigger the amount of data in VAS.
October 17, 20169 yr The main reason reason for VAS problems are add on airports in general. The greater the detail the bigger the amount of data in VAS. I would agree with that and I would also like to add advanced aircraft models such as the PMDG line of products. However what is "interesting" right now is how all of a sudden a group of people are having these VAS issues they never had before using the exact same add-ons and settings meaning something clearly changed in P3D. This of course doesn't necessarily mean P3D in itself is the "culprit" but can also be that P3D now interacts with one or more add-ons in a way it hasn't before and this makes this or these add-on(s) consume VAS in a way it/they didn't before.
October 17, 20169 yr For me this must be an addon or a combination of addons causing this leak. If you have enough and reinstall the whole sim from scratch, I would suggest to you taking my settings and addons (if you have it) and try again. For all with the OOMs, please turn off Hyper-Threading. If I turn it ON, I also will have OOM issues. Philipp Schwaegerl
October 17, 20169 yr The SimConnect exceptions thread has been updated: http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6310&t=120711&p=142317&hilit=sode#p142317 Another person has posted information regarding AI Traffic and Clifton Crane has responded that LM is still looking into this issue.
October 17, 20169 yr If not, it does not surprise me, as I already read years ago that no matter what setting you have inside your config, the textures will be loaded as they are, When I ran a similar test (same location, add-ons) going back to V2.x, the changing of the texture settings did influence VAS, especially going to 512 where I'd see over 400MB difference ... but the final VAS number was similar to this test (V3.4) as V2.x used more VAS overall. This was just a static test for the most part, the actual flight from KSFO to KSEA (default) and now KSFO to KLAX (default) never sees any VAS reduction once out of range of the KSFO (my expectation is to see VAS drop) ... it's almost as if the textures are being cached and never flushed. Cheers, Rob.
October 17, 20169 yr Hi, I can confirm what you say : when I fly from nearly any airport of Europe, I have a big VAS consummation over great Britain, and VAS never goes up. When I fly without flying over GB, for instance a LPPT to KJFK, I arrive over US coast with about 1 Go of VAS left, instead of 400 to 500Mb left with an EHAM or EDDF or EDDL to KJFK. With version 2, there was a big jump with the VAS usage, and I have the impression that with version 3.49, the VAS is not cleared as well as with some earlier versions. Cheers Yves Yves SAMUEL ELLX

Well, I tried your settings and have the same ad ons, firstly 3.2 no oom issue, secondly 3.5 very low memory, lastly 3.4 as I landed at eddf v2.0 the bells of oom started to whistle, while taxing to the gate even worse, on the blocks, what a disaster, out side view and bang. All 3 flights done from eddm taxi- to gate to eddf-v2 same gates at both airport The only difference the weather of AS16 and AS Cloud art. Come on Sir surely there is a serious problem.
October 17, 20169 yr EDIT: I'm in the process of doing KSFO to KLAX flights (video) to see if I can confirm VAS is not being released from departure airport. I did a flight from KSFO (FB) to KSEA (default) and KSFO VAS never released. This caught my eye. I've known since beginning with P3D that when I save, exit and restart then load the saved scenario that VAS load decreases up to 0.800 - 1.300 GB always and regardless of flight. Once VAS management was introduced, I then noticed that P3D seems to only start working to reduce VAS loads when the VAS remaining reduces to below 500 MB. I assumed that it takes application resources to do this clean up so it is only used when necessary. The assumption was just guesswork. If this is true, then KSFO will not be removed unless your VAS remaining drops below a certain point. I look forward to your findings. Dan Downs KCRP
October 18, 20169 yr http://www.prepar3d.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6310&t=120711&p=142317&hilit=sode#p145745 LM has reproduced the SimConnect bug and has stated that it will be fixed in the next release. So I guess that means that there will be a V3.5?
