P3D 3.4 Experience Thread

.....or stick with the version you have now because it works just fine.
I also have 3.3 as well.  Oh well, I will just stay put on 3.2 for now and let the dust settles.  Who knows, may be just go to 4.0 next year.  I am only interested in 3.4 because of report of the sim being smoother.  All P3D versions have microstutters with my hardware (strange enough, I also see the same very small but noticeable stutters on other folks' YouTube videos with much better hardware that I have).

I haven't been able to test 3.4 properly due to work but 3.4 somehow is more smoother than 3.3.5 but 3.3.5 works fine too.  I just don't see the point of buying any new sceneries now (planes are fine, just no sceneries) as VAS management is not fast enough to clear the VAS.  Though FSUIPC saves my flight and if the sim crashes, I just load the saved file up - so VAS really doesn't bother me as much (like it used to).

I just wish it could release VAS faster as VR consumes approx 500mb of VAS (Dan has done amazing job to make Flyinside use least amount of VAS)

If 3.3.5 works fine, one could skip 3.4 and wait for some potential patch or next upgrade.

I won't be able to test the sim properly till Christmas break - lot of work has arrived on my end.

V3.4.9. exhibits the same micro stutters I got on 3.3.5, so don't upgrade on that motivation alone. Very slight micro stutters and many here would probably say they cant see them but I do and they are there. I may not have a million dollar system but it is right up there in terms of hardware/performance. It has nothing to do with the hardware or the in sim graphics sliders.

I can totally kill the micro stutters if flying the F22 from default scenery (using Orbx X Global and vector) when selecting V-Sync on and Triple buffer on and limiting FPS to 60 in the sim. But then it does not work so well in the NGX - bigger stutters. My monitor can't do 30 Mhz and I think that is the cure for micro stutters.

I am starting to feel like you have two choices;   Fly a highly detailed plane over crappy default scenery or fly a crappy default plane or little GA payware that doesn't take much resources over highly detailed upgraded scenery....  and you aren't dared allowed to have AI traffic on else you shall sign your own death warrant with either scenario.    I guess we just want to put 10 lbs of sand into a 5 lbs holding bag.  Take your pick.  which will it be?  You can't have it all!   Not allowed... It WAS allowed once long ago... but not anymore.   May 3.5 return those of us having this (NOT IMAGINARY) problem to an age of golden flight.

I did one final flight just to make sure I wasn't crazy.  T2G's KSEA to FB's KPHX... never made it...  I entered Arizona, looked up at the VAS remaining (400 megs) and just sighed and shut the sim off knowing the loading of KPHX was going to trash the simulator.    This was with 1k textures on, low autogen, 4.5 LOD and I texture optimized both airports down to 1k textures, flushed the shader cache.. the whole routine that I shouldn't have to be doing.   The simulator just bled to death while I was doing my 30 minute prep work on the ground.   Started out with 870 megs free upon load in and over the course of the next 30 minutes it bled down to 520megs left and once I took off I was at the final 400 megs entering Arizona... the simulator never let go it just took took and took till there was nothing left.  Maybe I just need to fly with 256x256 textures.  Make my sim look like MS FS 98?  Maybe then I can get a flight in successfully.

I think I am done with this version but I can't go back so... I guess I'll just work on aircraft livery paint jobs and airport scenery design until the next version arrives.   I feel like some people think we are just crazy and imagining this problem and that it's our fault for having settings too high.  I can't turn them any lower man...   I fly with only two payware airports active at a time.   My UTX2.1USA and GEX are on moderate settings, My PMDG aircraft have been downgraded to 2k textures, my sky clouds are 1k, my airport traffic is off, my Autogen is Low  There is a problem with 3.4.9 and the way it is interacting with the 3rd party add-ons that have NOT changed.     If the 3rd party add-ons came out 1, 2, 3 years ago and have not changed but the version of the simulator has and the problems are now there.. something CHANGED in the simulator that is causing the problem.  You can say no all day but I have seen it, I have measured it and I am not alone in this assessment.

Off to paint something so I can chill out.  Haven't been this annoyed in a while.

I think it doesn't make sense to claim P3D produces OOMs just because you expect it to do. As I have stated in one of my previous posts, I flew from Aerosoft EGLL to Aerosoft EDDF v2 (two extreme VAS hogs) in the PMDG 777 and made it into EDDF without a ding from FSUIPC even though I only had 400 megs of free VAS when I crossed the channel! And this was not with default scenery but Orbx Global, Vector, openLC EU, FS2Crew, AS16+ASCA and Pro-ATC.

Even though I also have higher VAS consumption than in v3.3, it is not nearly as bad as for some of you. Something must be seriously wrong with either your systems or your settings...

Please if I here a it is your fault post I will scream. If the add ons have not changed but the simulator has.they worked in a previous version of the sim.then it is the simulator end of.please accept this fact .stop apologising for lm.i posted very early on in this thread that there was vast issues with v3.4 to be told to chuck my computer out and learn how to install. I have been following this thread with interest since .

Yes indeed, i use v3.35 now, had enough of wasting time with this v3.4 s.... Well said, and for the above person who states he has no prb , it's bull dust sir, we all have the latest high end hardware so please.  All works well in v3.35 so why must i degrade my settings for 3.4 to default and even worse--have a nice day - waiting for a fix and by the way if lm does not work on this problem they don't feel 2 tiks.

Hmm, now I have a dilemma. New rebuild on it's way back to me, ready to install P3D or FSX SE over the weekend. I had made the decision to go P3d, but now I'm not sure

Just do it. You won't regret it. The VAS situation will be ironed out at some point. And any version of P3D is ten times better than FSX-SE. I had to go back to FSX-SE to fly the FSL bus. Great plane but FSX-SE just feels so ancient after using P3D for more than 2 years...

At least, there must be a reason why some people have a worse situation than others. I'm not saying that there is no VAS handling problem in v3.4. But I can still complete most flights between add-on airports with complex planes without OOMs. However, others obviously can't even when using the same add-ons. And this is strange...

if p3d, then no harm done v3.2 and v3.5 is good, stay away from v3.4 at this moment be warned until we get a fix, sorry bud

Sir, do you use your sim just for 1 flight and then restart your sim from scratch, just wondering

While I've been using Prepar3d since 1.2, I'm in a similar situation. I'll get a new machine the next week and will have to reinstall the complete system. I've been with 3.3 on the old machine, without issues, now it's 3.3 again or 3.4.

While I am very grateful to the people donating a lot of effort into this, I can't say I am really enlightened at this point.

Christopher might have a point. Maybe it's HT on/off, AM or whatnot.

Kind regards, Michael

You can try 3.4 and see if it works for you. I went back to 3.3.5 as VAS recovery is better. I do not need VR support, avatars or avatars weapons (why that later feature? We want a sim, not a kid toy).

If you only fly GA VFR you will be fine though with 3.4. No harm to do a full install. You can go back to 3.3 just by uninstalling the client, and leave content and scenery untouched.

Regards,

Chris
