December 2, 20169 yr Be patient Mitch, I think the reason why LR has limited Graphics preferences is because for them (Im a developer too) is easier to go through all of the bugs reported in a sort of standard scenario compared to figuring out the bugs with too many difference preference scenarios, this just makes life and debugging a lot harder and time consuming. I bet that once the bugs that have the most impact in performance/stability are squashed, we will see additional preferences. Agreed. i9-13900K @ 5.8Ghz / Asus TUF 4090 OC / 32 GB DDR 5 / Corsair 1000W PS / Pimax Crystal / 2 SATA SSD / 2TB M2 SSD/ DOF Reality H3 motion platform/ Win 11
December 2, 20169 yr I found other Dataref Amazing. Just amazing. A click with the mouse and the sky is fine again. The stars and the moon must also be hidden somewhere in these controls You earned the reward I promised. I'll PM you. Hans

December 2, 20169 yr Great I think lol where do we make these changes - thanks You need the dataref editor , it's a plugin which you put under XplaneFOLDER/Resources/Plugin and then when you are in a flight click on the plugin menu / dataref / showartcontrols. December 2, 20169 yr How do I actually change the value? If i enter the line of text at the bottom and press enter nothing happens. derp, nevermind I got it! EDIT again But I did think of another question. Anyone know why the trees are affected by sun glare/low contrast but the houses don't appear to be. The contrast between the trees and houses looks horrible at certain times of the day... mainly when they are backlit. December 2, 20169 yr I have been playing around with OP's starting settings trying in dial in how I had RTH in XP10. Here are the settings if anyone is interested. I think it looks pretty good for a start. If you just want to reduce haze, use the last parameter and lower to your liking. Here is what is in my lua file. set("sim/private/controls/atmo/scale_raleigh", 30.0) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", -0.5) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 8) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_raleigh_b", 75.0) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_raleigh_g", 9.4) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_raleigh_r", 5.6) set("sim/private/controls/hdr/gain_min", 2.0) set("sim/private/controls/hdr/sky_gain", 8.0) set("sim/private/controls/hdr/white_point", 2.2) set("sim/private/controls/fog/std_deviation_cutoff", 0.5) Ryan
December 2, 20169 yr Oh - LUA is working? I thought it was busted? How can I get these set for good? | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

The contrast between the trees and houses looks horrible at certain times of the day... mainly when they are backlit. Because it is a BETA and it has a lot of bugs! there are even a lot of known bugs, which you can read about: http://www.x-plane.com/kb/x-plane-11-00-release-notes/And there you find: XPD-6827 Shadows or artifact on trees I would also gently repeat (even if I know it doesn't change much): all the haze / weather tweaking fiddling here at the moment is like shooting at a wildly moving target. A BETA (repeat: BETA!) is per Laminars own definition a moving target. It can and will change a lot ... so even if some of the findings here might (and will) prove useful in the long run, many of them might quickly loose their value with even the next BETA. After Laminar quite likely received a thousand bugs - rightly so - about the atmosphere its to be expected that they will tweak it too (and if both sides are tweaking, then the end result might be surprising in a "chaotic system" :smile: ) Andras Fabian / Alpilotx Visit www.alpilotx.net, a site about X-plane scenery You can see some landscape and other photographs from me here: http://www.flickr.co...s/weathermaker/
December 2, 20169 yr Nice finds! But I'd also like to know how to get these changes stick! The more tweaks we get, the longer it takes before I can start flying...! I hate to do all this every time! I am reading about LUA scripts: don't have any experience with that... maybe someone could write a short tutorial? I would also gently repeat (even if I know it doesn't change much): all the haze / weather tweaking fiddling here at the moment is like shooting at a wildly moving target. Yea, that's true to... Maybe it's better to be a bit patient... :wink:

I am reading about LUA scripts: don't have any experience with that... maybe someone could write a short tutorial? ok, these DataRefs are (all) aready used in XP10 (many of them explained and shared here and im X-Plane.org forum) and few are new in XP11 - there are already many topics about that , RTH is based on this things ! for first you need the DataRefEditor (but that´s clear), then the FlyWithLua plugin - http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/17468-flywithlua-for-xp9-and-xp10/ - put this plugin in the main plugin folder (whatever):\X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins The scripts are very easy to use - se example below: set("sim/private/controls/atmo/scale_raleigh", 30.0) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", -0.5) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 8) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_raleigh_b", 75.0) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_raleigh_g", 9.4) set("sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_raleigh_r", 5.6) set("sim/private/controls/hdr/gain_min", 2.0) set("sim/private/controls/hdr/sky_gain", 8.0) set("sim/private/controls/hdr/white_point", 2.2) set("sim/private/controls/fog/std_deviation_cutoff", 0.5) Put this in a texteditor or LUA Edit and save them as a simple test1.lua file - then put this file under: (whatever):\X-Plane 11\Resources\plugins\FlyWithLua\Scripts - and this values are saved and running so you don´t have to change this everytime ! and there are much more - that´s again one of the "cool stuff" in XP, you can adapt some settings for your taste - f.e. look for "sun_pitch_degrees" - in this way you can change this values according to the "time of day" with this dataref - there are so many possibilities ! a very, very simple example, the values are in german language but: sonnwinkel=sunpitch blauwert=blue rotwert=red grauwert=grey, but I thik it´s very self explaining function farben() if sonnenwinkel < 0.74 then blauwert = 78.0 rotwert = 1.00 grauwert = 9.3 set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/atmo_scale_raleigh", 19.0 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 4.0 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", 2.0 ) elseif sonnenwinkel >= 0.74 and sonnenwinkel < 1.5 then blauwert = 80.0 rotwert = 1.00 grauwert = 9.3 set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/atmo_scale_raleigh", 20.0 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 4.50 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", 2.2 ) elseif sonnenwinkel >= 1.5 and sonnenwinkel < 2.75 then blauwert = 82.0 rotwert = 1.00 grauwert = 9.3 set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/atmo_scale_raleigh", 21.0 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 5.50 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", 2.5 ) elseif sonnenwinkel >= 2.75 and sonnenwinkel < 3 then blauwert = 84.0 rotwert = 1.00 grauwert = 9.3 set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/atmo_scale_raleigh", 22.0 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 6.50 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", 2.5 ) elseif sonnenwinkel >= 3 and sonnenwinkel < 8.5 then blauwert = 85.0 rotwert = 1.00 grauwert = 9.2 set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/atmo_scale_raleigh", 23.0 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 7.30 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", 3.0 ) elseif sonnenwinkel >= 8.5 and sonnenwinkel < 10.01 then blauwert = 86.0 rotwert = 1.00 grauwert = 9.1 set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/atmo_scale_raleigh", 24.0 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 7.50 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", 3.4 ) elseif sonnenwinkel >= 10.01 and sonnenwinkel < 11 then blauwert = 88.0 rotwert = 1.00 grauwert = 9.0 set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/atmo_scale_raleigh", 25.0 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 8.00 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", 3.7 ) elseif sonnenwinkel >= 11 then blauwert = 90.0 rotwert = 0.90 grauwert = 9.0 set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/atmo_scale_raleigh", 26.0 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_raleigh", 8.50 ) set( "sim/private/controls/atmo/inscatter_gain_mie", 4.0 ) end return blauwert, rotwert, grauwer, sonnenwinkel end do_often("farben()") dataref ("sonnenwinkel", "sim/graphics/scenery/sun_pitch_degrees", "readonly") dataref ("blauwert", "sim/private/controls/atmo/scatter_raleigh_b", "writeable")dataref ("grauwert", "sim/private/controls/atmo/scatter_raleigh_g", "writeable") dataref ("rotwert", "sim/private/controls/atmo/scatter_raleigh_r", "writeable") As I said, I do not use everytime this values, It´s only a example and should be better adapted to XP11 ! December 2, 20169 yr The scripts are very easy to use - se example below: Tried that, however lua engine stops upon loading. Hans
