OK...thinking of staying with Beta1a right now....it's important for me, to have the Lua Engine running my script....hmmmmm... (smile).

I understood from the fix list that the GPS causing a crash toward the end of a flight if a flight plan was loaded was fixed in beta 2?  But, I just made a short flight in the default Cessna and it happened again.  Has anyone else seen this?

Report it!

I just did a 94nm flight from CYAZ to CYVR with the GPS using a .fms flight plan and it worked fine all the way to landing. This was in the new public Beta 2.

Details: The .fms was generated in Plan-G using the older XP10 database (doesn't work directly with the new one yet). It wasn't a default plane, it was an XP10 model Turbo Goose, and the .fms was loaded into the 530 version of the default popup GPS.

It may be something unique to that default plane, or maybe a different version of the GPS? If you can repeat the crash, file it as a bug.

Updated this afternoon and have been tinkering with the latest beta today.  Went through and reset all my controls (TM Warthog HOTAS and CH Pedals).  Two observations:

1) I get much worse performance with this version for some reason, no idea why.  I'm running a custom built i7 6700K/16GB RAM with a Devil AMD 390X 8GB GPU.  Doesn't seem to matter what resolution or settings, I can't get past ~20 fps with the stock C172 At SeaTac.  The previous beta version ran much smoother, but still no where as nice as XP10 in it's final version.

2) My entire screen randomly/momentarily goes blank when running the Beta2.  Windowed/Fullscreen (3440x1440) doesn't seem to matter.  Reset all my settings to default by deleting Prefs and re-running update, no change.  Only does this in the new version of XP11 Beta2.  P3D 3.4, all other games, general work and office usage etc has never done this.

Not impressed so far ha.  This is with full paid version.

For no.1, try setting 'threaded optimization' in nVidia control panel to off. This is a common cause of frames problems in XP.

I'm also getting worse performance with beta 2 vs beta 1. Also the top menu bar seems to be missing while in game and i can't seem to get it back when hovering my mouse near the top edge of the screen. I have to hit the tilde key to bring up a menu and then esc out of it to get the top bar to show again. Was hoping that beta 2 brought improved performance but seems as though its gotten worse.

keep in mind it is still in Beta, and will be for a while.

I'm actually running an AMD video card, not Nvidia, so don't have that option to try.

Correct, I get this, but my comments were based on today's beta versus what I was playing yesterday.

I don't think I have seen this cloud type in XP , what cloud type is it ?  This is in beta 2 no other cloud engines. I find some difference in clouds but can't be too sure.

That is the so called ugly XP cloud type. ;)

The sparklies on my instruments are gone and I can see them clearly now.

also known in their WMO designation by uCu

LR apart from the ground physics should also give a look at their weather coding.

I don't think it is reasonable to pay $70 for a nice weather program to start having something closer to real, although winds-wise and also in some way turbulence-wise ( * ) the NOAA plugin does all that is required, softening the wind variation and bringing the result of how X-Plane's weather engine interprets METAR field like:

200V310

making the wind vary in direction in intervals as small as 10 seconds, when it should refer to a minimum of 2 minutes clockwise in this case ( 2 min averages ).

Wind shift criteria implies variations of 45º or more along a period of 15 min with sustained wind speed of >= 10 knot during the variation / shift  period.

Then, even turbulence, and that is something NOAA or other plugins can't really do anything about, is not correctly modeled. Set a high factor for turbulence, which in X-Plane will be achieved already at 0.45, and observe how your aircraft is affected from an outside view. It bounces all around around all of it's main 3 degrees of liberty, but there are no plausible vertical components acting on it. Enable the "Visual Flight Model" with CTRL-M x 3 ( if I'm not wrong ) to observe the relative wind field around the aircraft. For vertical components we only have thermals in X-Plane... or mechanical lift due to terrain effects....

I have long reported all of this to Austin, since XP9... Also opened tickets with XP10 and now XP11. Maybe it can bring something along the XP cycle...

( * ) with limitations regarding turbulence, given the core weather engine in X-Plane.
