Public Beta2 is almost here...

I am also noticing worse performance under Beta 2. Bummer, but hopefully it will be sorted asap.

Noticed another thing as well: using the EADT 738 with the latest x737FMC all the overhead lights stay switched off. Don't know if it is limited to this aircraft as I am quite short on time for simming when I am at home tending to my sick 2y/o kid..

That's a problem - my now 20 yo younger daughter knew her father sometimes snailed away from her room, when she fell asleep, to go playing those "stupid aircraft in the PC".... "Dad!!!, can you please land that aircraft and come play with me ?????" she once said when she woke up and found no father next to her :-/

Hope he get's 110% again in order for you to close the NOTAM :-) - try not to push him to flight simulation, or aviation in general Swe!  It really didn't result with either of my two daughters... Trying again with my nephew ... with just slight hints about airplanes... :-)

But a night approach to NY in XP11 can really call the attention of a 2yo child :-)

About beta not being a beta, and the term being devaluated.

This might be true for other companies, but Laminar is a relative small company with limited test facilities.

So this is a real beta, in the real meaning of the word.

They don't even have everything in yet, it is a work in progress (notably the clouds need more work).

But as incomplete as it is, I find it a very stable piece of software, with very few crashes. Good job!

About the lion pit: that is why there is such a thing as a closed beta.

So, am i the only one experiencing weird calibration again? :P

Chock 1.1: "The only thing that whines louder than a jet engine is a flight simmer."

He'll be fine soon, although he contracts just about every bug there is out there. I am beginning to suspect that I've already ruined him regarding aviation. We live in a house along the flight path of Umeås airport and every time he hears an airplane on final, he goes mental, yelling "look, look" and pointing up in the sky..

Hours as my F/O does that to a child i suppose..

Which version the first beta or second one from yesterday  ? thanks - I also had the same problem with the first version - second version was a bit easier to figure out

Problem solved Rich. Recalibrated and all working again.

Stupidly expensive rig, nonplussed Memsahib, disinterested offspring and a fascinated cat as Rio.  XP11, P3Dv3 and an Oculus Rift.

Awesome news - enjoy

Curious, is it possible to roll back to the previous beta?  This new one is literally not usable on my hardware.  Whenever XP11 is loaded, my screen constantly switches on and off every 5 seconds or so for about 2 seconds, quite annoying.  I will report to LM, but previous beta did not do this even once.

Does not matter if full screen or windowed.

The only way that's possible is if you make a copy of the whole XP folder prior to updating. Very possible to that as often as you like, or to even run the old and the new beta's side by side if you wish. By default, X-Plane is completely 'portable'.

Anyone compared how the Carenado planes do in Beta 2 as opposed to Beta 1? Sure, not LR's business but they did surprisingly well in Beta 1. In Beta 2 they don't. I really wonder what was changed from Beta 1 to 2 that can be considered progress, other than repairing the flickering instruments in the C 172 :smile:Proof how much even a beta development is subjective. Maybe Beta 1 was just too good to be real,  :nea:

i have my old sky max pro 2 installed, why doesn't my small plane get blown around in bad weather?the sim looks amazing, but i feel like my planes are on rails in stormy weather.i also crashed the default md80 into the ground and its in 10 pieces on fire.

Sky max doesn't control the weather, it replaces the default clouds. Whatever you're using to inject weather does which, if it's default, is not the best representation around. Pairing Skymax with free injectors such as the NOAA plugin over at the org will probably blow you about a bit more.

Confused about skymaxx pro, so you're saying its only a texture replacement for the default clouds? Is Real weather connector the actual addon that communicates with SMP to inject the weather? I'm already using FSGRW add-on, is that the same as RWC?

SMP is textures only. Just like for instance REX Soft clouds is textures only. And just like Soft clouds SMP works with any weather engine. So if you use FSGRW you can use that for the actual weather and the SMP clouds will be used to show it all on your screen.
