Shall be fun to test Ryzen with all new funktions

Asus Intel z270 have very raw funktions for OC , like AVX downclock and OC temprature Control that downclock when reach thé tresold you set

Example you set multi 52 , AVX multi3 , temp 75c multi 3, you get 49 when feel AVX and 49 when cup go over 75c

Ny Eng is bad , dont get deper Max did it great

I was ready to pull the trigger on a 7700K but I think I may hold off a bit more. Wondering about how good the motherboards/chipsets  will be feature wise for these new AMD chips. Past systems I've built never seem to stack up against the Intel boards ( like USB 3.0/3.1, M2 slots etc. ) Also wondering how good optane really is too..

1600x benchmarks http://hothardware.com/news/amd-ryzen-5-1600x-6-core-benchmarks-leak

Single threat performance It almost beat i7-4790k :)

1600x is suppose to go on sale for ~260 USD

Note, this are engineering samples, so most likely final release chips will be higher.

Nice , thanks for the link. hope all these unofficial benchies are real. I think all these results are only using an engineering sample right ? The finished product should be much better i guess.

Asus Crosshair V1 looks very nice. Plenty of features that should please you...

Exactly my thinking at the moment. The motherboards being announced so far look solid with a lot of high end hardware support and features.

I last built a new PC in 2012 and currently run a 6 core i7-3930k - as a multi core CPU it still rates well against the latest 4 core CPU's. Inadvertently future proofed myself quite well back then it seems! That said, it's been 5 years and whilst things like efficiency have improved, I cannot believe how little progress seems to have been made by Intel - I literally haven't followed any computer hardware news in the last couple of years and I was expecting to start my research for a new system by finding something that was a big step up from what I have already. I can OC to 4.3 Ghz all ok with 6 cores. I'm not sure how much of a difference (CPU effect only) I would see in P3D with a 7700k for example?

My timing for building a new system seems to be good though. I'm excited to hear about the Ryzen chips and as a multi core fan to date, the 8 core top end 1800x looks very attractive on paper. I'll be looking forward to seeing how it performs and how it can be pushed.

Out of interest, if P3D goes 64 bit could there be more opportunity for Lockheed Martin to use more cores to push performance? I know 64 bit is a memory thing but once (if) that limit's removed then surely there's the chance to optimise for all sorts of hardware. In that (very hypothetical) case more cores could be better? This is me showing VERY limited technical knowledge by the way!

Right now it's looking like a tough decision which is excellent for everyone - for too long it's been "which Intel CPU should I buy".

Don't even get me started on GPU's - I'll be rocking my trusty GTX780Ti in my new system until I get to grips with NVidia's potential 1080Ti or AMD's Vega Architecture.

More performance reports coming out -- single threaded --  the 1700x nearly beating out the 6900k. 1700x will go on sale for $389.00

The Intel 6900k is $1028! 7700k is $348 on Amazon right now, but the 1700x will have it beat on multicore tasks.

I am going to be a Guanine Pig and pick one up of these Ryzen CPUs if I can get my hands on one !

Almost 5,000 visits to this thread. Something smells like hot bread.

It's terribly irritating to see a company mmilk the heck out of customers. Intel making very small "improvements" for the past 12 years.

We hope AMD brings on a solid chip. Will get it over Intel 100%.

if this is true(and i hope so), i'm going to wait for Intel response, becouse i've heard they could make current CPU's to perform much better, but there was no need for that

It is indeed frustrating and I very much look forward to Ryzen for multi-threaded workloads.  In fact, I intend to purchase an 8 core model and install it in my media server which can take as many cores as I can throw at it.  In fact, I may end up waiting for the server parts aka "Naples" and see what prices look like there.

In the mean time, my gaming/flight sim PC has gotten an upgrade to Kaby Lake.  5.2GHz with 3600 RAM means flight sim has never run better.  I couldn't be happier and will have zero regrets even with Ryzen due out next week as there is no way AMD can match Intel's single thread IPC or clock speed potential.  If flight sim is your main priority to which all others take a back seat, buying Intel is still the way to go for the foreseeable future.  Now that AMD has managed to be competitive again that can only mean good things from Intel in the future as well.

Competition is a good thing for us. They should offer something much better to keep current pricing

Yep, my opinion too, as I stated earlier.
