December 29, 20169 yr Author I have over 700GB of Steam games split over 3 drives. It's easy to move the games around without any tools. Just move the game folders where you want them and then add the folder in the 'add steam library' option. But...will they also be addressed and updated by Steam? With the Mover, (which is so quick and easy...and done with low level DOS Xcopy from your O.S running in a Command Window....so your O.S. knows what is happening...) With Steam Mover, you can see everything, change everything on the fly, move at will...and Steam will have associations set for all. This is not Steam seeing your add-on folders for where it is to look, but your O.S. creating solid pointer associations to remote/moved folders and files, for having done the placement within the system pervue. I have 160 GB's on my drive vacated this morning by P3D v2.4, all has been (this includes AeroFly FS2 files) Optimum Name defragged, and AeroFly just screams along. The visual sense (and smoothness of the animation) regarding the aircraft's speed and rotation, (both the Airbus and Boeing Big Iron) ,has not been reproduced on my system, by any other flight sim that I own...including FS9. This is the most real sense of speed along the runway roll, that I have ever seen to date. I am so hooked on this platform...and it can only get better and better with Dev-developed features, as well as any 3rP content that might show up (Orbx...aircraft dev's, etc) I normally can get with P3D, FSX, and XP11, around 33 FPS at the best of times, at the max-sim settings I need for immersion. Having taxed it all (FPS generation) further by going to almost 4K resolutions on my Ultra Wide 21:9,...well...I fly AeroFly FS2, and have it now tuned to a constant 60 FPS, and still have the FPS reserves to crank it to 200 plus, for when they add greater 'depth' as some define it. I certainly have no need to upgrade my present motherboard, CPU, (already upgraded my GPU) to be able to achieve stellar FPS performance. What I needed to do, lol...was UPGRADE my sims, with modern graphic and physics engines LOL! AeroFLy 2 has proved that, hand's down. BTW, folks...it is a good idea to defrag your Steam files, especially the AeroFly 2 GB's....it really adds to your flight visualization performance. Cheers, Nice one. Just bought AFS2. And also Switserland and NYC. Yeah, it's all or nothing with me LOL So my problem is solved. Unfortunately I don't have much time to actually fly so it may take some time before I will let you all know what my findings are but at least I will have the opportunity to follow the progress of this sim and give you my honest and personal opinion (which you can't really share if you don't own the program). I added Switzerland because I love those mountains there and also because mountains don't have cities on them which is, I think, the weakest point of this kind of scenery (because of the lack of 3D buildings), so those mountains should at least give my some moments of joy, and I bought NYC because I want to see myself how good the current best of the best in the AFS2 world actually is. So...your finger twitched upon the purchase-trigger, huh? Jeroen, you are going to like it for what pleases you, and will shrug for what does not. As HighFlyer states, nothing is perfect to all persons. There are so many 'better' moments in this sim, over my M.S. based flight sims, that truly, no matter where this AeroFly goes, it has been a great user-investment to date. It is only going to get better, because I am very satisfied with it already. I added the Beta Channel to it on Steam, and so will sit back and enjoy what comes down the development pathway. I will use all my sims, but have already stated in another post, that I am sort of 'retiring' both FSX and P3D, only in the way I now budget for future added 3rP content. AeroFly v.X, is now in competition for those funds.... Have fun! Ses

December 29, 20169 yr This thread is a perfect example why developers should take zero notice of what simmer want. We all want and like different things. I agree to a certain extent, but I think there is a clear direction that most people seem to be agreeing on for scenery, and that is worldwide photo scenery with accurate OSM road and building placements. Seasonal variations would probably see a situation almost all are happy with. I spent some time getting this working for the UK in X-Plane 10 this year and was blown away by how good it looked, I don't think there is anything that matches it currently. The Aerofly video of New York posted in this thread is the exception, that looked incredible, but alas it's only US at the moment.

December 30, 20169 yr For those who are anxiously waiting: JV/Orbx just sort of confirmed that they announced support of the various sims but that it may take a while before there actually will be products. Don't expect anything before Q4 of 2017...! Or even December 2017! R&D will probably take a year alone. Makes you want wonder why he already posted screenshots of Meigs in AFS2 but well... EDIT Someone posted this: I doubt you'll see anything soon. ORBX will start to spend R&D resources on the top-secret projects after release of Germany South. Germany South will be due in April, may slip possibly into May and according to my experience this means not earlier than July. Usually R&D does not turn into immediate products (and as John stated in another thread, they will probably not even support all four top-secret platforms after evaluating the state of the art at that time). Realistically, the very first products for some of the top-secret projects might appear around this time of the year in 2017. While, John in another thread clearly indicated P3D3 will remain their primary and first-release platform for the foreseeable future. We may or may not like it, but that's the facts as I read them for now. Certainly good for your wallet, though. And JV's reply was: This is the most sensible assumption I have seen after reading four pages of mostly conjecture.

Who thought this was going to happen quickly? At least XPlane and Aerofly are already existing products though. Who knows how long we'll have to wait for the completely unseen P3D-64 and DTFS, and products to appear for them? (Unless its a Nintendo type deal where the release(s) are accompanied by Dlc) I would also add JV spoke about his announcement causing lots of conjecture, but you would think that's exactly what it was designed to do. At which flight forum has such an announcement not caused exactly that reaction? Meanwhile....... http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/aerofly-fs-2-sdk.437762/ We are all connected..... December 31, 20169 yr Well, after all the positive raves I bought the sim and the New York area. Aside from the beautiful Airplanes there are far more Cons than Pros (my opinion only and am not trying to start a "fight"). Pro: Beautiful planes and some scenery areas. Easy to setup and get started. Cons: Too much yellow landscape, and all flat. Engine sounds really poor. No mixture control and many inop buttons and switches There isn't really anything to do except cruise around/land/takeoff Maybe I am just getting off on the wrong foot because of that 15 hour download (8 for New York) Maybe it will be worth $45 after a few updates As it is now It reminds me (too much) of Microsoft FLIGHT I do wish them well and hope I am not offending anyone Neal howard Neal Howard
December 31, 20169 yr Moderator I agree there are far more cons than pros but, in fairness, this is an early access release, one might call it a pre beta. For what they HAVE done, it is quite good but IMHO it really is unfair to compare it to any other working sim, at this point. Down the road, as it develops, it may become a contender in the sim wars but for now, it's fun to tool around the sky but for any serious flying - no way. I like it for what it is and look forward to what it could be but P3D is still my choice for any serious aviation. Since I haven't used any Steam apps in the past, my main focus right now is determining how to disable all the steam functions when not using the application.
