January 21, 20179 yr Well just did a first flight from Fly Tampa CYYZ to Fly Tampa CYUL. No issues, very flyable and enjoyable. I will post full flight details in the other thread on performance, vas, fps, etc. Vector and AI were on for this. Here is link, I posted my cfg as well. http://www.avsim.com/topic/502199-fsl-a320x-performance-vas-etc-reports/#entry3553746 Mark CYYZ
January 21, 20179 yr Performing the same flight just to confirm my measurements... Gate at EDDM with 1201 free. Now already flying this time around with 900 free after climbing from EDDM. Shortly after the memory keeps clearing up and i'm already at 1100-ish. Just to clear things up, when you guys mention Traffic AI do you mean the default traffic from P3D (boats, cars, etc) or some sort of Traffic AI addon? I use no addons at all for this as i've said previously, but i do have the default boats and cars a little up because i don't like seeing empty streets and seas. January 21, 20179 yr I´ve just completed an IVAO online flight from EDDF (v2 by Aerosoft) to EDDT (by Aerosoft), with FTX Global, Vector (normal high settings, for the sake of pushing and testing it), Open LC EU, FTX trees HD, AS16 & ASCA. Framerate was absolutely fine, with peaks at cruise (over 40), and drops during departure and approach (down to 17-19). But Frankfurt and Berlin are both cities with very dense and complex scenery! VAS left at T/O was 1100, and 700 at the gate in EDDT. No OOM, no dinging! ;-)
January 21, 20179 yr The other thing to consider is that Aerosoft has already started testing more advanced systems on the Airbus X line to introduce into the A330. So it really makes me wonder if I have so much fun with the Airbus X line, is it really worth the 149.99 price tag for one airplane? I am sorry but never have I loved Mathjis more than today and their business model. Sure it's not steaming from the wings with anti ice but really I can buy 5 sceneries for the same price and will enjoy it more. If they fix the VAS then we will talk. January 21, 20179 yr But, I definitely understand that many potential purchasers who "just want to fly", would find the price too steep. ...and find that it's the wrong aircraft. The Airbus is a funny beast that way, and it's been said that you don't fly it, you operate it, and that one reason for the side-stick controls is to reinforce that. I don't know how true that really is, but it seems to make sense. I don't like the rise in aircraft add-on prices either, but in view of the development effort and detail of modelling with this one, it may be worth it. To put it in perspective, the FSX price would get you one night in an OK hotel with breakfast in Dublin - as long as there wasn't any big event or concert on that night. And I have easily wasted the equivalent (maybe even multiples??*) of the price of the FSLabs Airbus on impulse-purchase aircraft that hardly ever left the virtual hangar. If you "amortise" the price in terms of cost-per-hour-of-entertainment (and from the sound of it, it'll require a long of time even to get the hang of it), it's not that bad a deal. Rack up 100 hours, and it's only cost you +/- 1.20 £/€ per hour, for which you get the functionality, although not the visceral experience, of a professional simulator - and with better scenery to boot. That said, it is a large single outlay though, and I still have to get to grips with my AS Airbus, and I have a backlog of advanced/study aircraft before I even get to that, so I won't be pulling the trigger on this one yet. When I've done that, if I'm still wanting more from the 'bus, then I'll feel that the FS Labs offering will probably be a worthwhile purchase and I imagine I'd be OK with the price, more or less. I wouldn't even have a problem with moving the sliders left, although I'd be less happy about not having any AI aircraft about, though; big immersion killer for me. Bruce Springsteen's "Empty Sky" just popped into my head... *I am definitely not going to try to calculate that one...

This is so true. Kind of funny how people buy each and every add-on airport which is released just to fly in and out of it 2 or 3 times. The total spend on those airports is easily multiple times the price of the FSL A320, yet the very same people come here and complain about the price of an aircraft add-on which you would spend much more time with than most of your airport add-ons. Completely irrational. Just because it is a significant one-off payment... [email protected] ∣ Asus ROG Strix B650E-E ∣ 64Gb@6000MT ∣ NVidia 5090 FE

January 21, 20179 yr Most people use a handful at most of airport Addons as their "base" but after that it is definitely something that is hardly used. I can think of quite a few I have only used once in the year since I purchased them. Mark CYYZ
January 21, 20179 yr As per what Nuno has said, AI made a huge difference in using the FSL A320 for me. Even 15% AI, at larger airports would lead to FPS and VAS problems. No AI - a very usable experience (although for me, it performed better in FSX:SE than in P3D 3.4). So, as well as all the other factors that need to be carefully considered before deciding whether or not to invest, whether you can live without AI should be a key one. This is to be taken as nothing more than an anecdote ----> I've been really enjoying the FSL A320 for weeks now, but for the first time since buying it, I've just taken the Aerosoft A320 for a flight. My preconception was that it would feel lacking and disappointing ---------- it didn't -------- I enjoyed it far more than I expected, and I enjoyed being able to fly from two VAS heavy airports, with very dense autogen settings, AI, and other settings set to high. I also prefer the AS's engine sounds. Sure, the 'nuances' of the FSL were missing (such as subtle changes in pack sounds, etc), but overall, I still really enjoyed the AS A320 experience, even after having flown the FSL a lot. Contrary to what a lot of people say, the AS is not by any means a 'lite' addon - it's just that it is positioned for standard line flying, so has less possible variables going on beneath the hood. The FSL is fantastic. But there are some serious comprimises involved in running it, and the fact it is lacking in config utilities, custom key commands etc (achievable with the AS using a simple LUA script) also reduce enjoyment, for me. If I'm completely honest with myself, I think I wish I had saved my money for other forthcoming addons like the AS A330, PMDG 747, etc, and stuck with the AS A320, which does the job just fine for me. Bill, spot on, my thoughts exactly. Question, can you use hardware routed through fsuipc {all my stuff gets routed through fsuipc for axis and buttons assignments and calibration} on the Aerosoft A320? I have throttles rudders, yoke and tiller all on hardware. While I know a yoke is not Airbus, it is a $800 dollar piece of gear so I'm not setting it aside! Eric

January 21, 20179 yr Well, that's the plus point of flying a virtual A320 - you can use a cheap &@($* joystick with no feedback and it's practically 100 percent authentic, especially if you don't even touch it lol Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
January 21, 20179 yr I would not hold your breath on that one, It took them a year to move it from 32bit FSX to 32bit P3D How is August 2016 to January 2017 a year???
