Nah, they didn't even give a date for when the next update will be.

They did. Back in the previous update when they laid out the plans for engaging with the community. Yes, they didn't put an exact date, but the Insider Program is going to be launched in early/mid August so there you have it.

Actually it was - it was indicated in there previous update! We've not reached the middle of August yet so be patient, we might have another week to wait...

Not really they said that we would be updated about the insider program from Early/Mid August, 8th of August is definitely within the Early/Mid August time frame.

OH, just a milti - billion dollar company...

If they have a plan on quickly refreshing FSX in the interim until MSFS is released, I would play it.  Maybe implement Azure/Photogrammetry into FSX, to give us a taste of what it will look like.

To me, that only means Microsoft is confirming he's back in the FS business. Forget about FSX, as they are concentrated in MSFS2020.

I lost my entire day doing nothing getting excited for this....

I, too, am a bit disappointed because I expected more about the new sim. But I also think we should all take a deep breath and relax. The Insider Program is planned to kick off in early/mid August and, well, that's where we are. It should be within/around next week. We will get to see in-sim content (I'm expecting this to be more than the teasers), a preview of the build program and they will lay out the development roadmap. There is plenty to come this month and ahead.

Cheer up.

I am disappointed as well. I was hoping to hear some new information related to FS2004.

Flippin hell and then we wonder why devs don't like giving out updates.

The main stuff about the new sim will most likely come with Gamescom, chillllll

OK. I too craved for some info on the NEW sim, but this is still good news.

MS are eating humble pie again, and I can only applaud how they now seem to be taking responsibility for past mistakes - something most companies I know of would never ever do. When have you ever seen a corporation say things like these:

The return of Microsoft Flight Simulator X is an important step in embracing our accountability and responsibility to those that have come before us. And to those that continue to value and invest in the Microsoft Flight Simulator X experience.

That passion, investment, and appreciation must be recognized and reflected in our commitment to carry the Microsoft Flight Simulator franchise into the next generation. We are not building on, but building from, the product and history that is Microsoft Flight Simulator X.

Today, with a bit of bittersweet sentiment, we say “Welcome Home” to an old friend.

or this:

Threads like this on AVSIM, and across all the forums we pay close attention to, are truly valued by the team. So though we may not be directly interacting with you at the moment, we hear you. August is about setting expectations, providing a clear Development Roadmap outlining how we get from today to launch.

or this:

On behalf of the entire Microsoft Flight Simulator team, we humbly and deeply express our gratitude for such an overwhelmingly positive response to our announce trailer! We recognize that without people like you, we don’t get to make experiences like this that span more than 35 years and maintain such a passionate following. Thank you for being patient enough to weather the turbulence caused by some of our previous missteps. Thank you for being willing to look to the possibilities of the future while asking us to be accountable for the past. We hear you, we value you, we want to make the next generation of Microsoft Flight Simulator for you, with you.

Not likely, considering the RAM limits of a 32-bit flight sim.
