To be fair, if they actually put a new website for the FSX announcement it would seem there were way more to come regarding FSX than just MS taking it back in, if that's what this means. Shoving the FSX update between MSFS updates makes it seem more like it's an incidental thing because the agreement with Dovetail happened to run out at this point.

I am fully ready to subscribe to that concept, I just really want them to come out in the open and flat out say that publicly. Again the worst thing here is to be misunderstood on a point like this and leaving us all speculating about what it might mean

August 8, 20196 yr 😒🤷♂️ That was a long wait for absolutely nothing...(coming from one who left FSX for P3D many years ago). 😞 Two more weeks and we can get breaking news that Microsoft is actually a company and people work there. 😩 I sure hope this kind of show is not indicative of the new flight sim to come, but my outlook is not improved by this kind of empty child's play. DTG did the same kind of thing - 'we have big news to come'...a month later they tell us they plan to release a mission pack...🤢🤮 MS has time to redeem themselves, the day is not over.⌚
August 8, 20196 yr The part of today's update which concerns me the most is this: More on our FSX plans coming soon… Listen, I love FSX and I flew in it exclusively for a decade, but I am not interested in any new updates or content for FSX. The fact that they have plans for FSX bothers me because that takes away development resources which I feel would be better spent on the new sim. I'd like a fresh break from the old technology, it's time to move on, and today's update only increases my fear that they just might be utilizing code and content from FSX in this new venture. I'm fine with them taking back ownership of FSX but please don't spend any time working on it. Let's move on to bigger and better things.

You know, it's possible they have more than one team working on flight sim stuff (remember Asobo Studio is also working on MSFS). I think people are reading too far into this is at this stage. Microsoft is a smart company and isn't going to prioritize 13 year old software over their next gen platform that likely has a significant amount of money invested in it. I suspect they'll just be adding FSX to Xbox Game Pass for PC and maybe do some small updates at the most. The only real purpose it could serve IMO is to gain publicity/interest for the new sim, especially if release is still a long way off. Brandon Filer
August 8, 20196 yr FSX was an excellent sim for it's time. That time is over. I simply do not want to hear about a 14 year old sim. I've had that thing uninstalled for a long time, and I would also be okay if it froze to death in a blizzard lol | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
August 8, 20196 yr Commercial Member In the second 8/8 Update, the MFS team stated: The team is working hard to adjust the schedule to see what information we can share earlier than currently planned. In our August 15th update, we will provide more clarity on where we at in the process. As for me I would love to see either some screenshots or videos of the Current State Sim. I would also like to know what non-photogrammetry areas will look like. What do other members of the community think would be good for the MFS team to show us or provide information on? August 8, 20196 yr Just had to fire up FSX steam for the heck of it (First in yrs). Did a couple updates and FSinsider start screen. An old friend.
August 8, 20196 yr Quote from the new update: Quote But wait there's more! I don't want to read too much into this, but at this point I'm actually starting to like the way they seem to be engaging with the community. There were the references to AVSIM threads and even individual posters in their previous update, and this may actually be quoted from @snglecoil who posted in this thread. Seems they published the FSX update and jumped right over here to monitor reactions. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anything like this. Edited August 8, 20196 yr by threegreen
