October 11, 20196 yr I'm even more surprised with all this recent anouncements and the effect they caused on me ... After years, decades, dreaming of a simulator that could have all of these features, and probably because in the last years not being satisfied with anything I had tried after MS FLIGHT I turned into combat flight simulators, truth is I became a fan of the later, and even those were eventually filtered turning out to crystalize into a single platform - War Thunder. It's my only and Go To simulator, and while I follow the news about FS 2020 with joy, I can't really feel any great deal of enthusiasm about it. X-Plane follows the same route... In some way this is great because it avoids potential frustration and anxiety while waiting for the desired new toy 🙂 I have my best toy already, at last ! Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

October 11, 20196 yr If I stopped flying, I'd forget everything by the time MSFS came out. It's bad enough as it is -- I hadn't flown the PMDG 777 for a while, went to do a flight, and...I had to just about do the tutorial again. October 11, 20196 yr If I don't get into the alpha program, I might have to make an effort to ignore news about this sim. 😑 It's a ways off.
October 11, 20196 yr The announcement of MSFT 2020 launching got me back in after a 3-4 year hiatus...was looking into VR options but not there yet. I will be moving to MSFT 2020 regardless if it is compatible with my hardware or not. Edited October 11, 20196 yr by Flybynumbers

As a r/w pilot it should be a SIMULATION of FLIGHT for me which means PILOTING an aircraft that comes as close as possible to my A2A and the real Cherokee in performance and handling, not necessarily optically. Mostly FS seems to be regarded as a simulation of environment without coming close to any realism of flying. Even as a very experienced pilot you have no eye for scenery while climbing or on approach (if you don't prefer autoland...). Personally I love flying into beautiful cloud formations, but you concentrate more on the airspace around you than on ground only. So I expect that P3D and X-Plane will remain the preferred FS when it comes to more realistic piloting. Actually, from what I've been hearing MSFT takes flight physics to a whole new level...but with scenery like that who really cares!!!!??? It could fly like Blue Max (Commodore 64) and I would still get it. Anyway, all the physics in the world will not help create "flying" realism without a force feedback yoke and chair. Other than that simulators can train you for procedures and navigation...not going to prepare you for the "feel' of a real plane. October 11, 20196 yr I will just keep using the FSLabs A320 until FS2020 is released, and I won’t spend another darn penny on add-ons (after the pay again to upgrade airports for P3D v4 debacle). Third party developers should start innovating now by offering value - « Free upgrade to FS2020 version if you buy this airport today. », if they don’t want to find their sales free-falling.

Neither of the former mentioned flight sims with all of my addon's can come close in my opinion to the glory that is FS in it's Pre Alpha state. And so regardless of cost, subscriptions, the initial lack of ATC and a myriad of other small exclusions or problems I shall while away the time with DCS, IL2 and Star Citizen until this true 64bit gem is released. So Au revoir until we meet again over Paris, London, New York or any of the other 2 million plus accurately represented cites in this amazing World they are creating. That might have been pre-mature...but only because you'll probably need a new PC anyway to run MSFT 2020. 🙂
October 11, 20196 yr Which part of 2020 do y'all expect to be whizzing about in MSF? Call me an old cynic, but if 2020 comes and goes without a 'release' I shall not be too surprised. How many times, by how many developers have promised release dates been 'put back'? LOADS. Reinstall your P3D mate and keep on flying. The World is divided into two groups. October 11, 20196 yr I love flight simming and MISS IT a great deal!!! If I still had a working PC, I would certainly continue to fly P3D. I have a lot invested in that sim so uninstalling it now to wait for a sim that is not a "SURE THING" just doesn't make sense to me. I love flying too much. The new MSFS looks amazing but it is not a "SURE THING" for me personally. It certainly is VERY promising and I am hopeful but there are many factors that will determine if it will be the way forward for my simming experience in the future. I do need to build a new PC and figured I would wait to hear and learn more about MSFS before I invest in new hardware. And even if I built a new PC tomorrow, just the thought of what it would take to get P3D up and running again gives me a bit of a headache. If my PC was up and running I would be flying right now... probably taking off from a Flightbeam airport, in a PMDG 777 or 747-8i (in BA livery) on my way to a FlyTampa airport with ActiveSky injecting current weather conditions into my sim. Just typing that makes me want to go on Amazon and order parts to build a new PC. 😥 Anthony A. Moise

How many times, by how many developers have promised release dates been 'put back'? LOADS. You're an old cynic!! ☺️ Disagree with you here Ron. There's actually a hard deadline date with the release of the new Xbox console with a 'holiday season' 2020 launch. There's no way that a title expected to flaunt the capabilities of said console is not going to be made ready in advance of the hardware release. If the development team run up against the deadline, they will omit certain underdeveloped features (as already mentioned by them) for a (hopefully) stable release and implement them in point releases down the road. As for uninstalling one's current sim for a 9 - 12 month wait... let's just say that's a bit like someone selling a BMW 1-series now for an Aston Martin DB11 next year, but having to walk the 10 miles to work everyday in the meantime.
