Have Alpha testers been notified yet?

I already explained this in a previous post, by saying you are invited, you are not releasing any more information that Microsoft has already released.  As MS has already publically announced the dates of recruitment.  So there is absolutely nothing wrong with people saying if they are invited or not, as long as they don't go into further details of their next steps etc.

EDIT: MS seems to have fast tracked tech alpha 2 since they are giving another update next week about it? Seems like good news for the ones that didn't get invited this time around.

Oh goody...second chance...feel lucky!

I just checked my mails and had eight new mails. I thought one of them just has to be from Microsoft - but no, none from Microsoft. That's a bummer. 🙄

LOL...I check my email and spam folder at least 3 times a day in the vain hope I've been accepted....I crawl back under my rock when nothing appears!

I guess that's why there are quite a few systems with 32GB RAM in here? Or can Prepar3D v4 use that much as well?

The minimum RAM spec for P3D is lower than that of XP11, just 4 GB RAM with a recommended 16 GB, so it's a bit less RAM intensive. That makes sense because P3D only recently transitioned from 32-bit to 64-bit, while XP has been 64-bit since the middle of the last XP10 version, and there has been more time to build RAM-intensive features into the sim.

And yeah, if you're building a new computer for MSFS, I think it's smart to go with 32 GB RAM. Even if the sim doesn't use all of it, you'll have plenty of RAM overhead for running any other software in parallel... like watching those YouTube in-flight movies on a long cruise phase of the flight. 😉

It seems to me that this tech would likely need more RAM given they have talked about cache being important int he streaming process.

In the final build it will be made playable with 16 GB I'm sure but I think 32 or 64 GB would be better and also RAM speed might actually count for something in a game, especially if paired with a new AMD CPU

Don't you think the fact they are streaming means you'll need less RAM? If data's cached it's still streamed in (and then out the further you are away) either from the hard disk (cached) or from the internet (azure cloud). Of course the bigger picture is it's a tech alpha and what that means as far as RAM goes it's a blank cheque I.e. you could put any number on it, but I suspect the more GB's the better 😁 I would say at the stage people who have less than 16 GB are probably at a disadvantage for this initial release but lets wait and see.

Got 16GB. Motherboard can take 4-slots...guess what...yup, they're all full!

I think they will use clients RAM for cache as much as possible for speed, hard disk is too slow, even SSD's really for this tech but I'm just guessing.

i do photogrammetry in my spare time, a hobby, 32gb i would say is the minimum, the more you have the faster are the calculations,

if you do Video editing 32gb is a minimum especially if you edit 4k videos.

32gb is nothing special today IMHO.

Not mine 😅 I'm just a follower.

I asked him for specs, he is running a system with 32GB RAM and a FX-6350 (6 cores).

And here are my toughts: 32+ GB AND a clean system (dxdiag w/out errors).

It should be noted that your system won't be doing photogrammetry calculations, according to what we've been told. Azure servers in the cloud are supposed to be handling that.

of course, i was just talking about whats 32gb worth today

Thanks for the info, it's refreshing to see a system without a high-end Intel CPU get accepted into the alpha.
