PMDG 737NGXu First Impressions and Review!

Recommended Posts

Yes, I've uninstalled the NGX right after installing the NGXu but I don't believe it makes any difference.

What might make a difference is the view from the VC. Using EZCA my main cockpit view doesn't display the EFB moving map as you can see.

Can anyone comment on the sounds? Are they at the level we won't need to enhance them by using another add-on (like immersive audio I found oustanding)?

I really like the sounds in the aircraft. Granted, I have no experience flying the real thing but I think the NGXus sound is better than the NGX.

What Richard said. I own Immersive Audio for the NGX and I think the new sounds in the NGXu are even better and more immersive.

i havent seen a performance boost with 9961 so will try a complete reinstall.

Any one got the VR CDUII up and running with this ? (alter the .panel.cfg? a copy of information inside panel.cfg from NGX doesnt work)

Thanks

Well. I am unsure if the newest patch made any difference for me. Maybe slightly better performance. Compared it with the old NGX today:

Pushing back from terminal 1 at ORBx ESSA in the NGXu: Struggling to keep FPS over 20.

Pushing back from the same terminal in the NGX: 40-50 FPS and buttery smooth.

Giving up on the NGXu now. Hope it'll work better in the next sim.

Correction: It was from Gate 1 I pushed back. Night. Further I was using the following Add ons:

1. AS (latest version. Weather was clear)

2. Environment Force

3. UTLive with traffic quite low.

Comp: 6700K at 4.7 32GB Ram 1080 Ti.

Has anyone who claims not to have performance issues actually tried a frame rate comparison with the NGX?

  • Rob A got a 20% reduction (I think - either compared with the NGX or the 747). Lots of other people report a reduction in frame rates, though most haven't reported a percentage comparison.
  • Robert Randazzo says its easy on frames.
  • Kyle says that it's obviously not going to be good on frames because there's lots of raindrops on the window and dynamic lights and an EFB, duh!

Having read all the threads, I suspect that it drops the frame rates by about 20% on average compared with the NGX. And the people who claim no performance impact do so because they had sufficient overhead to be able to comfortably lose this number of frames.

But - would be very interested in anyone with data showing that their frame rates are the same or better with the Xu in a comparison with no other variable changes.
