I don't update P3D instantly when new version is available so I also don't get to experiment with errors and fixes. None the less you can read about workarounds in PTA forum which indicate a very easy fix for a program. When things really started to drag and promises were not delivered, I switched to TomatoShade.

Not saying that PTA is a bad tool, I'm just saying that it is unnecessary. TomatoShade does the same thing, heck you can even load PTA profile in it and it works just fine, and it receives better version compatibility and stability. Not to mention that it's free, so I don't see a reason to pay for something when fully functioning alternative is available at no cost. Well, actually I can see an argument here in form of supporting a product or developer, but for me that does not apply in this case. I can't support the developer who's personal, professional and moral conduct is so far below the bar.

Some of us bought PTA long before Tomato was available.

I bought PTA after TomatoShade was available. Makes it even more frustrating for me.

Fantastic colors! But my pet peeve ground is almost pitch black (save for the corona/flare effect) when sun is still above horizon, that looks very odd. (Watching the image from a smartphone with mediocre calibration though). The terrain is still illuminated IRL at those lighting conditions, but in that picture you would need apron and taxiway lighting in full force which P3D not always is capable of?

To see what I see here you would have to set your monitor :

- brightness to 20-30

- contrast to 95

So all my screenshots are looking a little darker with 50/50 settings..

Bear in mind that when looking into the sun the ground/objects before you are looking much darker....

That effect is also in my PTA preset as I want it to be as realistic as possible instead of as beautifull..

Sorry, what's this for a pointless poll?!!!
if already the question is absolutely wrong, then how can an answer be right ???

...envtex isn't a shader program !
...envshade is missing !
...Rex Environment Force is missing !
......

Somebody must have been pretty boring.... 😉

kind regards,

I was tempted to try shader tweaks but just like medication it improves some aspects and screws up others.

For me, the side effects outweigh what ever benefits i was able to observe so as it stands i opt out.

Rex Environment Force on Automatic.

Although I'm beginning to dabble into its manual mode.

I'm using P3D v4.5 HF2 with envshade + envtex. There are no presets you just turn it on. There was an update for envshade not to long ago that allows you to adjust some of the shader "values" however I just go with the defaults. This is one of the reasons I prefer envshade, you don't have to spend hours adjusting and tweaking settings, finding presets. You just turn it on and load it up. The results look pretty good right out of the box.

Is there any need for an additional shader mod if using Rex EF...?

If so why and what shader mod worked best with it?

Thanks!

None at all.

Works best if you have REX SkyForce so it can use its clouds.
