Well done.. Disable 3D Dynamic Vegetation.. if that doesn't help then reduce the shadow distance from Ultra to High or Medium.. Visually it will not be that much difference because:

A) You are running on 4K

B) The processing to cast the shadow at an Ultra distance are being wasted since you cannot really see it!

Hello @ll,

about the add-on.xml description bug:

P4AO has just been updated to 1.54 b02. This version assigns the addon name as the description automatically, if the current description of a package is empty. This happens right when the app is started and you will get a notification that you have to "Save" these changes.

If you answer "no" to my question about sliders underlined above, then you can be specifically blamed for not testing full sliders, because you did not do a good enough/complete job. If LM told testers to not test full sliders (doubtful), then either all beta testers should leave or LM should not lie about new features available which cannot be utilized without a CTD. But if you answer "yes" then you DID have CTD's, and LM ignored you or you did not report them.

 

There are some videos also from RobA. with a TITANX and all sliders to the right and also some tweaks to the cfg file to actually show more, and didn´t have a single CTD. 

So, I think the real problem is that you are not looking enough, or just really don´t want to see and come here to blame everyone for your own frustations.

3D Dynamic Vegetation is disabled. Enabling it does not change fps, still at 16.

Going to Shadow Distance High and also Shadow Quality High sets fps to 21.

Draw Distance Medium then gives me still 21, so no change.

 

With Shadow quality at High and draw distance at Medium I tried to tweak AA:

Changing from 4xSSAA to 4x MSAA lifts fps to 27. Still not exactly what I want.

2xSSAA is at 26 fps.

8xSSAA is at 16.

 

Still, this is not what I have in V4.5. Can it be explained why shadows are more heavy in V5 as in V4?

Hotfix works flawless on my end.

Comparing to v4.5 it is crazy what kind of performance I am seeeing. 
Almost everything cranked to max, 4K resolution with TrueSky,  4SSAA and GPU load never goes beyond 40% and VRAM at 5.3 (7.3GB system total). That was totally impossible in v4.5 on my system.

Funny I just had one there but was changing between single vision and stereo with high load , Had to disable a lot scenary in Orbx and the stock P3D scenary to make it work well . Did a search in my orbx library and disabled everything KLAS

Because the new atmospherics treat light more realistic and accordingly shadows too. 8XSSAA at 4K is very taxing.. I never recommend doing that.. even people with TitantX struggle to get things done on 4K + 8xSSAA and all the settings you have enable.. try to disable cast shadows for certain objects that are not as important for your simulation and you should be able to get the performance you are looking for.

Yes, Simbol, I think that's a good advice. Thank you for your help.

 

Besides the fps drop for certain shadows V5 seems to do well. So, in opposite to what I said earlier: I'm not done with V5, I will go on. 🙂

You are very welcome Karl, I am glad you are happy now..

V5 is a new simulator with a new engine and accordingly despite of the settings being similar, these cannot be compared like for a like..

Customers and beta testers do NOT need to understand anything about LM's problems or schedules when they are suffering from an easily reproducible CTD. When I say scream loudly in quotes, it is meant to communicate that NOTHING is more important. This can be done respectfully the first few times , but the increased sharp tone MUST be exhibited if nothing is done. We cannot care about LM's problems, we have our own problems too. We are not subordinate to them, we are the customer.

Both settings are stable at 30 fps. Of course, depending on the scenery some tweaking may still be necessary.
