June 10, 20205 yr 1 or 2 out of 5 sessions some repeatable (I think). Never really had CTDs with 4.0 and I've been with P3d since v3. Besides the CTDs, I really like v5 and now it has become my sim of choice. My 2 cents, -Braun
June 10, 20205 yr Luckily, my V5 is stable.. Hoping that the upcoming HF2 solves your CTDs and does not introduce any for me.. 😉 Bert
June 10, 20205 yr Be interesting to see how long the change log is and what they have fixed or deemed to be a priority to be fixed.

June 10, 20205 yr Let me guess, your cpu is overclocked and runs normal "games" without a hitch...not P3D V5, I had a 5.2 OC but had to dial back for superstable...no cdt since Edited June 10, 20205 yr by McDaniel

Without infos about your hardware, your P3D settings and addons you use there is nothing help we can offer, all suggestions will be fishing in murky waters. I was getting near continuous CTD’s but after turning off my overclock (both ram and cpu) my p3dv5 has been super stable. The only CTD I get now is on loading the aerosoft A330, but I’m still working through that and everything else is good. June 10, 20205 yr If you follow all the suggestions here and continue to get CTD’s, you’re pretty much boned. Lockheed has mostly gone silent on their public forums and the third party devs have no idea why the hell the sim is crashing in some instances, e.g. switching from external to VC. All you can do is hope HF2 brings some relief, but again LM is only talking to their select beta group at this point so it’s impossible to tell what issues they’re tracking.
June 10, 20205 yr I honestly find their lack of communication pretty wild. I get not wanting to give release dates but wow... people have bought an expensive piece of software that 7 weeks later still is a mess which means some of the most high quality addons haven’t been ported yet. 7 weeks is like 10% of the year. Paying for a software that’s hardly useable 10% of the year and not even getting any communication or development update... again: just wow. Edited June 10, 20205 yr by flycln

I use V5 exclusively. Very few CTD's. The ones I got I think were related to GSX redistributables and I have fixed now. While your hardware / settings may make V5 "hardly usable" I really strongly disagree with your statement. For example, if you save a scenario with a GPS 2D window open and the ATC window open and use that to start your flight, you may get a CTD. This is the only time I have had issues with CTD's. I now close all other 2D windows before saving a scenario and have never had a CTD doing it this way. I have had P3DV5 for 12 days and have done about 12 flights for 1.5 to 2.5 hours without any issues. I have done various setting changes while flying to see how things work and to tweak performance and never had a CTD. Also I play around with scenery design and other design work, and somedays may start P3DV5 20 or 30 times a days to test things and it has been very reliable. John C. The black box thingy also has a push button activated coffee cup holder. John C.

June 10, 20205 yr Author To all who have replied, thank you. All your comments and suggestions are valid and many I've already investigated. The truth is I have settled for the 20% CTD rate (for me) until such time that LM addresses the core issues that are causing these CTDs for many. As I said, V5 is now version of choice and for the record, my system is not overclocked (I5 9600K, NV 1080, 16 GB fast ram, twin 1 TB m.2 for FS (1 p3d 4, 1 p3d 5)) Again, thanks to all! -Braun
