Well, THIS solves all concerns.  Now we know.  Great news, indeed!

I can say from bitter experience with the Microsoft Store that its a 'dam' nightmare with multiple disks and different logins.

Once you move an application to another drive it creates WindowsApps and all sorts of permissions which make it impossible to remove without formatting the drive!

I have gone down the Steam route which I trust and have games across 4 different drives, you can also install to any folder you like and it doesn't mangle permissions. If you haven't bought yet I would strongly recommend Steam.

But it's behind a hidden sandbox.... Apparently.
As such you cannot normally locate it with nVidia inspector.

But I've found a way, so it's all good.

I am still conteplating should I buy it from Steam or MS Store.

As above, please please go with Steam,

I cannot recommend it enough, it is light years ahead of the Microsoft Store for managing games, data and updates and doesn't really use the registry. I lost all my Forza Horizon progress when I had to change my windows login after a reinstalled windows. Steam I just "relinked" the old games folder and instantly all my games were running again, oh and as its not integrated with your Windows account you can run it from any login should you need to change or even move computers.

I also found I could not remove the WindowsApp folder even rebooting into support mode, I am a system architect and I really struggled! I couldn't extract my settings when I tried to back it up so I had to redownload and reinstall every single Store game, even though 200GB of games were there on my other drives!

Perhaps from reading through all the comments Asobo have an alternative approach for MSFS and its handled better but I can tell you I have been so burnt by the Store I wouldnt touch it given a choice.

Here is what I did.

1. Download Flight Simulator to its default location. It is not a very big file.. some 200 MB.

2. Go to Windows Settings / Apps and find the Flight Simulator "app"

3. Click on it and select Move

4. Point to your SSD and execute.

The App will be moved to its new location.

Oh my!  That was too easy!!

Thanks Bert!!

I purchased the "Premium Deluxe" version through Steam. I want to install on my SSD C:\ drive. I know Steam installs game data into a default Library location, in my case it's on D:\ drive. Will I be able to choose my own install location (C:\drive)? The reason I ask is I would like to have the game files on the SSD and any future addons on another drive.

Regards

Two people on the .org forums claims to have it downloaded already (140GB) and ready to launch when it unlocks on the 18th?

I seriously doubt that. My folder has only 5.65 GB downloaded and installed.

The game is UWP and sandboxed when downloaded through the Microsoft Store. By default, it's being placed in the Program Files\WindowsApps folder and no, it's not just the "launcher" as some people are saying, not sure where you're getting that from. Downloading the actual files inside the launcher, will place them in the same sandboxed directories that still require taking ownership to even view

Which of you is right?

Before it started the 91GIG download, it asked me where I wanted the game installed.

my nvidia control panel was able to locate the exe so I could set my refresh settings to adaptive half refresh and I put it on a different drive than everything else.
