There should be a wind direction indicator I think,  on the VFR map......it would help somewhat for landings.

Maybe they'll be able to introduce that on a later build?

Watched the last video listed intently.  What I noticed was a lot of stuttering and some lag at times. 😕

I feel like I've noticed this on most of the videos that have been leaked.  Like so many of you guys, I've gone thru great measures to ensure my sim experience is ultra smooth and have resisted chasing FPS.  I really hope this is something that is fixed in the release version compared to the alpha.  Not to mention this is just default.  No payware added.  It seems unlikely performance improves when we start adding in the extras.  On the plus side the graphics look good.

Im waiting for someone to replace FS2020 weather /clouds with REX sky force  and terrain with orbx global and proudly stream at 80fps  and put their title as "MFS 2020" but it looks like if FSX were updated to dx-11

What annoys me is that these people are not able to contribute anything to the development. They're just in it for a free ride.

Let's hope that there are some good guys left out there caching the bugs. This one couldn't catch a bug if it flew against his window.

I suspect you are wrong.

Mr Leet flyer that confidently presses buttons and happily takes off into the wild blue in fact probably gives Asobo just about the same amount of information in the end as the vast majority of regular flyers interacting with the sim, who in their own way provide Asobo valuable data regarding what types of additional training missions and in-game assistance might be required to gently encourage proficiency.

Beyond that, any tester is probably useful for seeing how multiplayer is working, what airports people most like to visit, most active hours worldwide for streaming scenery..... Frame rates across different hardware...... All sorts of useful data that doesn't necessarily require Captain Sully in command.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

I'm not using the alpha, currently (word not allowed)  However I do some beta testing for some music recording software from time to time, and in each of those cases, the developers had debug software running in the betas which was there to provide the devs information about errors and crashes automatically, but which limited the performance of the software, in most cases significantly.  Usually we didn't get full performance until we had the release candidate installer to test.  It stands to reason that MS would be doing the same.  given that, can I say it will be smooth like buttah?  no.  but you can't take performance of an alpha or beta as the performance of the end product, particularly If you don't know the specs of the computer involved, or whether its also affected by the video capture software.

Agree 100%. I think there is a bit too much belittling of those who aren't 'hardcore simmers'. But if it weren't for all the happy-go-lucky chase cam pilots also buying the sim (or any sim game for that matter), the price of said sim(s) would be higher. And look at it this way - whereas a 'clueless, who-cares-about-the-rules' driver can and will spoil the online experience in a motor racing sim (try playing GT Sport with the amount of rammers in many races!), the 'Sunday driver' pilots aren't going to spoil your experience when you take off in MSFS. They still need to be catered for by the devs though, so that they can make sure the sim behaves well for all types and competency levels of purchasers.

I expect to be more heavily invested in this version of Flight Simulator compared to the previous 2 versions, but I'm never likely to be as dedicated as the hardcore pilots.

I'm in no way as knowledgeable, experienced immersion-focussed (or wealthy, clearly!) as some on here, but if I buy the sim, I'm just as entitled to enjoy it however I use it, just as long as I don't spoil the experience for others.

This is detail that only a human artist can really get right - I don´t blame Asobo, I am just relieved that they haven´t found a way to sucessfully automate it. But maybe most people won´t notice, with the gaze upwards towards those beautiful clouds! 😃

I hope (and assume) that the SDK will be released to the public at one point. Given the glimpse we could already see, it should be a joy to edit scenery (with ingame engine). So in the end both, the ground and the sky will look beautiful.

Happy with MSFS 🙂

Well, those higher resolution youtube videos from yesterday are now all removed, what a shock. Since this is the internet, I will assume they were downloaded about a zillion times, and will probably show up on billibilli asap.

As someone working on airports for X-Plane I am just incredibly relieved to see (in the Domodedovo video) that they really haven´t been able to pull off getting the airport ground detail right. The ground markings are super messy (yellow lines not matching up, going nowhere, the vehicle pathways much too narrow, and what is with those weird red fat snakes??), there are blue taxiway edge lights in the middle of the taxiways (27 minutes and on) and so on.

This is detail that only a human artist can really get right - I don´t blame Asobo, I am just relieved that they haven´t found a way to sucessfully automate it. But maybe most people won´t notice, with the gaze upwards towards those beautiful clouds! 😃

Well, I get your point but then again I'm not exactly incredibly relieved. 🤣 In the sense of, I would not mind if they did find a way. Other than that, to my understanding from the Airport Episode every airport was done by a human... but yeah the lines are totally messed up. All the way back to the video you could see how messed up they are. Too bad. And yeah, unfortunately it was hard to not notice. 🙄

I got the impression that alpha testing is mainly about testing compatibility with a vast range of specs, i.e testing for performance and crashes. Their main selection criteria is therefore mainly specs and not skill. I would also speculate they've had more proficient simmers participate in an insider beta programme for a while to give feedback on everything about the sim itself.

Yeah I would second that as well.

If I were ASOBO, in addition to using this forum to obtain vital information on the size of real world trees, I'd also be using this thread as by far the easiest way to rapidly identify leaked videos...
