I'm not having a terrible time with MSFS.

Just completed an IFR flight in the TBM-930 and it went very well - loved it. Sure, fonts are a bit off on the displays, but it still feels immersive.

Thanks for starting this thread - its nice to see some optimism and positive thoughts around here. I am loving this new sim, runs great, looks outstanding and I’m excited and thankful for Microsoft for giving this hobby a renewed future.

Yesterday I was enjoying flying over my country. Period. I was not simming. I was no longer caring "to sim".

IMO this is the biggest achievement Asobo nailed (and MS allowed for, that is amusing on its own). This is what is "next-gen" to me.

I'm pretty happy with the release.  Again I'm a GA flyer so having lack of functionality in the large default jets isn't really an issue.

I do think though, many would be a lot happier if the default Garmin Gxxx avionics would correctly load SIDS/STARs/IAPs while flying.

I am enjoying this sim also. Only had a glitch during the initial download. Last night A320 KLAS to KLAX was smooth (I was not monitoring the FPS at the time of landing). All settings set to Ultra except DOF(med).     i7-10700K (OC 5.0), 2070S XC Ultra, 32GB ram, 1440P.

Am having a blast love it!

Well said.  While there are some issues that annoy me, overall I’m having a blast with MSFS and I’m sure i will for years to come...this will only get better with time.

i am more than happy, was not expecting the sim to run this good on below min specs machine.

finaly a vfr sim out of the box.

I agree that this edition of Flight Simulator is fantastic! I had absolutely zero issues with the download/install and the sim runs beautifully on my mid-range PC. Sure there are some weird quirks (like the Missouri River being about 200 feet taller than the surrounding terrain near St. Louis, MO) and other bugs but I'm confident they will be fixed in time. My house looks great from the air and the sim runs buttery smooth for the most part. I can't say the same for P3D and X-Plane. Very satisfied customer here! Way to go Asobo and MS!

I know others have had issues but install was hassle free for me and done in 1 hour. As somebody who just flies light GA for now I'm mostly very happy with what I've seen. Sure there's some issues but nothing I can't live with. Performance has been great too on my 3800X/2070 super/32GB Ram/1440p. I've been able to bump most settings to ultra and still keep 35 - 65 FPS depending on scene complexity. Definitely think there's a great base here and looking forward to seeing what TPDs bring to the table later with some more study level aircraft.

I just hopped into the drone view and flew around the places I lived and live in.

Even with the lack of photogrammetry it is pretty impressing. Especially since the atmospheric conditions match, what I see outside to a tee.

The lighting was so right that it really felt like home. The angle at which the setting sun hits the buildings, the rolling hills in the fore- and background.

And then as the evening drew close I saw a fantastic little detail. The lights in the houses come on gradually. They are not simply switched on all at once, but one by one, very slowly. First it's just one window then gradually the whole neighbouhood. The effect is stunning.

Thank you for this thread.

I got off to a rocky start and was a cranky old fussbag about it but despite my grumbling and posting, by the end of it I had 3 outstanding and very impressive flights before heading off to bed, and realized that I had been through the full gamut of negative to positive impressions all in one day - ONE DAY!!

It makes me realize that having barely scratched the surface of the sim, I have much more flying and enjoyment coming my way, and in reality given the scope of change here i could not ask for a much more favorable outlook.  I'm looking forward to the possibilities, and not looking backwards at woulda-coulda-shoulda.
