August 19, 20205 yr I am also on the happy side. Today´s flights included a trip from Munich to Innsbruck in a Cap10... getting over the alps and trying to evade heavy looking clouds was a small adventure on its own! Also the steering was rather direct on this small plane. Then I landed with the DR400 in Bergen ENBR, where I have some beautiful shots from P3D with ORBX Norway... this one is def. better and very immersive. Another small flight in VL-3 from EGCC Manchester to EGG Liverpool was a very beautiful trip and was at least in the same league with True Earth GB in XP11. Just finished a flight from KPHL Philadelphi to KLGA in the King Air 350i and again it felt very unique. Yesterday I flew into Munich by night. Fascinating. I also took the 747 from Istanbul to Antalya... yeah the landing was rather rough. I just LOVE how all those different regions are displayed in MSF and that you feel like actually FLYING there. I also love the feeling of the air around the plane and the influence weather has on the smaller GA planes, so that you really try to avoid hitting dark clouds. Ok, on every trip I noticed things which could and should be improved, but that´s really complaining on a very high level. I just love this sim - ok, maybe it IS still more of a game at the moment regarding the planes, but the base is already a great sim environment and once PMDG and FSLabs will release their study level planes, I do not think I could go back anymore. I really do not mean this as bashing and maybe I will still find something to prefer in P3D or XP11, and if not now, maybe with the next iterations, and every one who will still not like the sim, will surely have a great time flying around the world nonetheless in other platforms and can be happy. I am convinced now and will invest in this sim in regards to airports and planes to come and I am also convinced, that in 1 or 2 years, most criticism will have stopped. All the things I have seen so far, which should be improved do not seem unresolvable or too big to accomplish. Some fine tuning here and there, some AI improvements, some rework on auto pilot (PMDG will come with their own AP implementation anyway), BING world data will surely improve in the next years and the sim will almost automatically get better this way. I think MS/Asobo have done the sim community a HUGE favor and accomplished the start of a new era with this sim. Even if not all appreciate the current version, I think every one at least has to admit that it has extreme potential to become every simmer´s dream. Not today, not tomorrow maybe, but just give it time. I really believe in this sim´s future.
August 19, 20205 yr Great sim! VFR flying is an absolute blast and I can't imagine going back to P3D. Such fantastic performance with ultra settings on my laptop which doesnt have top of the line specs - never expected to run it on ultra. I'm glad they released it sooner with a few minor bugs rather than making us wait more. I haven't even experienced any bugs except 2 CTDs when messing around with settings. Just hoping for better performance with airliners down the road, since I was getting 18 FPS over Chicago with A320. Edited August 19, 20205 yr by NightOfDreams

August 19, 20205 yr As an Alpha and Beta tester, I had access to the sim from the 1st batch of testers. There has been nothing short of great teamwork from Asobo on this project. They have given us a great modular foundation to build the best sim upon. I'm waiting for VR support to really use the sim and guessing by that time, many great improvements and additions will be out there to support MSFS. Yeah I used the word great 3 times in my post, kinda reflects how I feel about the new sim 😉 i9-13900K O/C | ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz Kingston FURY | RTX 4090 24GB | 2x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) 1x SSD (4TB Samsung 870 EVO) | Windows 11 Home | H20: HydroLux PRO:HardLine Tubing| 1000w PSU | Starlink WiFi
August 19, 20205 yr Very happy with the sim. This is the future of sims...the scenery...amazing...weather system...amazing. default planes..best default planes ive ever flown. Yes, buggy..but will fix with time. i9 11900K @ 5.3 RTX 3070TI 8GB 32 GB RAM @ 4200 GHZ 1 TB SSD 1080p G-Sync 27" Monitor

August 19, 20205 yr Very happy so far as well. Gonna take some getting used too of course. I need to adjust the sensitivity of my controllers, something I've never felt the need to do before. Also, learning how to navigate the drone camera so I can look around better when I want to enjoy the scenery for a moment. Looking forward to my flight after lunch, wanna make it to Savanna Ga before night fall.
August 19, 20205 yr I've only had about 45 minutes today but even with the microstutters and my relatively puny I7 running at 3.4ghz 8g of ram with a 1060 video card, I'm very impressed. Having started with an old black and white timex flight sim, then the precursor to 98 on thru fsx, I'm loving the new sim. Probably take an old guy like me a couple of hours to get his joystick configured enough to actually fly, but I very much like what I've seen so far. Hats off to the team that worked so hard to produce this. I'm certain that we'll get many improvements and 3rd party offerings in time. 👍🙂
August 19, 20205 yr I must say, the sim is running SO smoothly for my hardware. Based on comments from others, I expected atrocious performance. I’m not monitoring FPS, but in the TBM even in more dense areas it’s very smooth with my 1440p monitor, GTX 1070 and i7-6700 w 32 GB RAM.
August 19, 20205 yr Love it so far. Performance great, visuals great and yes a few bugs but had a better immersive experience in msfs 2020 so far. Just done a quick IFR circuit over the UK with real weather. Big weather front over us at the moment so ils with about 3nm of visibility and gusty wind in the c172 and it was great. Well done ASOBO and MS. With a few patches and fixes this will be even better. No regret in purchasing at all.

The bad performance seems to only bite some and not others randomly. I hope we get it figured out. Other than that I didn't have many problems at all with the download (currently reinstalling) and not one CTD or anything. My X52 is premapped but I'm not having much luck with in game sensitivity settings. I can tell this sim can run smooth if it likes your PC, even lower spec PC's. August 19, 20205 yr I'm very happy too. I'm in no way 'hardcore' like many of you here so my knowledge and experience is very basic, it's therefore ticked all the boxes for me so far. The real weather and traffic has really drawn me in, the ability to look at real weather conditions then pick an airport nearby and experience what is happening out there has been mesmerising. The only issue for me so far was not taking any notice of the install location yesterday meaning the files weren't easy to access. I've remedied that today with a reinstall into a more convenient location meaning i'm able to look into the inner workings for texture and config files. Not a issue with the sim itself of course, ignoring the install location was entirely my own doing!
August 19, 20205 yr Same for me too, had a wonderful experience so far, even my install was flawless which amazed me after spending most of the day reading the various forums about what a gong show it was (And to be fair the install routine has been a nightmare for many). The sim performance is remarkable and I'm running in 4K. Never seen any sim begin to come close to what this has to offer. I've completed 3 IFR flights, 1 in the 172, 1 in the B350 and 1 in the A320 and each one was absolutely fine - Not perfect but fine. Autopilot held course and altitude just fine, the A320 was a bit rapid in climb and descent, LOC and GS intercept was fine as well. It's not modeled to any degree of high fidelity but its usable to complete and IFR flight from Point A to Point B. I've never flown VFR in sim before but I've done many of those in MSFS and loved every minute of it. The immersion from the scenery, the weather and the stunning visual quality is something I've not yet experienced in a desktop simulator. Flying over cities at night is simply breathtaking. I'm just more than happy that for once I can complete a flight without seeing "Prepar3d needs to close DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG" on my screen over and over again! Now I can see why all the 3rd parties are so enthusiastic, this is a wonderful platform to build and grow on for years to come.
