Are we looking at the same airport?  Denver.  I don't  think the default can even be compared to the FB KDEN?  Wow.  I must be approaching from  a different direction.

While Mir and FB really need no defending as to the quality of their work, I feel compelled to share my view.

Not only did I have the "Premium" version of KDEN over the default version, the "Premium" version left so much to be desired that there was no way I was going to fly into it when I knew the FB version was available.

However just to compare...I did force myself to fly over the iconic sky bridge to see what was there before I installed the FB version.  Now while it may look "OK", its not right.  if you're not a frequent visitor to KDEN, this version may work for you.

Here is the Premium version...where I got this:

To the casual observer, some may not see too many differences.

Not going thru them all, but the mains ones (to me) are the parking structures, the road from there, the design and coloration of the heat exchangers (the round thingies by that same road), the toll booths in the distance, the shape of the "tents", and of course the look of the sky bridge (too short and stubby in the Premium version, not colored/textured as well either).  The aircraft parking markings are also much better in the FB version.

Anyway, I would usually spam the post with all sorts of other glorious shots, but not really needed as your opinion is just as valid as mine, and I have to respect that. 😉

However, the one thing that I've experienced moreover with dealing with Mir and FB is exceptional customer service to say the least.  In fact, in my most recent encounter, I had purchased FB products using different email accounts on esellerrate many years ago (including KDEN).  When I followed the simple instructions to remedy this and sync all my purchases with the new store model, the issue was resolved before I could even send a followup support ticket with the details of my various FB purchases in case they needed it (they didnt)....LOL.   And the new Contrail app had the latest 1.03 version up and running in MSFS in a matter of minutes!

Overall, my combined experiences with FB, both in the quality of the software, the frequency of updates, the seamless methods to install those updates has been completely satisfying...and...the fact that possibly the 1st time in sim history they built a complex, highly detailed add-on for flightsim actually runs better than the default! LOL

Also, the dynamic night lighting in MSFS is light years ahead of any previous version...and all other previous versions caused a slideshow on my PC.  While that is an overall benefit not necessarily credited to FB...the terminal interior lighting (and detail) sure is!

Look at the interior of the terminal!  In previous versions...if this could even be done to this level of detail with no performance hit, we'd pay $15 just for an add-on that would try to replicate what we see below....while you can get the whole KDEN airport from FB for that! (even less if you're a previous customer!) 🙂

OK, enough cheerleading, I have a new airport to explore. 🙂

Mir, I’m gonna be frank with you. No matter how much better your textures are or how much better modelled your airport is, there will be that 1% of people that you can’t appease. Keep up the great work.

I watched Jeff Faviagliano's (spelling?) stream yesterday showing it. It looked pretty bad IMO. Big mesh problems and low quality textures.

Now, maybe there was some issue with his system or install, but buyer beware. I watched his video and then compared it to the default one in my sim and found I liked the latter better because it was cleaner and less buggy. Honestly, unless you are extremely detail oriented, the Asobo version of KDEN is pretty good. I'd buy something you don't have hand-crafted at all.

I love his videos.  But when he was doing his first MSFS review he had his sliders set at medium or lower.

I really hope Mir can reach out to Jeff for Jeff to give another review because what happened on that stream is not a representation of Flightbeam. Especially the number of people watching the stream.

The thing is that I beleived Jeff must have had a sub par system or why would he set his setting so low on the first review.  He seems perfectly fine with it, but such low settings has made me not wanna watch his MSFS 2020 reviews which is too bad because Jeff is great at making very interesting videos.

True, hopefully he maybe plans to get a better system to enhance the experience.

I can not believe HOW HUGE that airport is!  There are some sunken ground issues with remote parking areas but overall I think it's great.  Haven't checked the night lighting yet but did a bunch of taxiing around and flying over with the Virus then a flight from there to KLAX with the A320 after I purchased the other day.

Just flew into there and landed on 16R. Since I was in the King Air I had ATC send me to parking and ended up going roughly 3 miles to get there.

Yes, and taxiing at a walking pace of ~5mph, it was slow and painful I'm sure!

Question:

Don't have this AP folder listed in my MSFS Community folder but have my Orbx AP folders in there...

I checked and this Add-on AP is in the sim but I installed via the Marketplace.

Could the folder be located somewhere else?

Hey guys, thanks for your feedback. Always appreciated.
There's a big update available to KDEN, which is now v1.03. You'll want this update as it adds a lot of new features and eliminates many of the launch day bugs. Currently only available for Flightbeam store purchases. I've submitted the update to MS, however the marketplace ingestion is down and I'm not sure when they'll publish the update.

Here's a preview of the improved night lighting:

In v1.03 change log, the 3rd point is very interesting 'Enabled ground PBR in preparation for MSFS's new update which enables it'

Tells you something about the upcoming patch.

Good catch.

Just installed KDEN, I did not have Asobos’ premium airport. I had a significant performance hit, going from an average 55fps (45 min even on NY) to 22fps max. I tried reducing rendering from 100 to 90 and the fps dropped even further (11fps). Disabling weather (clear skies) did nothing and the game crashed/closed as soon as I zoomed in the terminal area (I was at twy p7 off rwy 35R).

So far KDEN is unplayable for me and this is the first time I had the game crash or such low performance.

Of course there are differences. If there were none, then it wouldn't be an "addon". It seems to be though, that unless you're a KDEN freak, the MSFS default version holds up very nicely in comparison. Furthermore, I spend my time in the cockpit

not walking around counting the rivets anbd screws on the baggage carts.

The point remains: the default airports in MSFS 2020 - even the ones that didn't get special attention - are a massive jump forward and are nipping at the heels of addon developers, who really have to step up their game.
