AUGUST 27TH, 2020 DEVELOPMENT UPDATE

We are in the final stages of prepping the upcoming patch for release next week. The team has been actively working on addressing issues impacting download and installation issues as a priority for this patch. We appreciate all the feedback from the community and we are hard at work updating the feedback snapshot and development roadmap, which we hope to release within the next few weeks!

PATCH UPDATE COMING WITHIN 7 DAYS

Patch contains fixes to reduce crash and installation issues, along with other bug fixes and improvements.

The team would like to thank the community for all your feedback!

ONCE THE PATCH HAS BEEN RELEASED – To install the patch, simply close Microsoft Flight Simulator and and relaunch.

 

PATCH NOTES

STABILITY ISSUES

• The title will no longer crash when different input devices/peripherals are disconnected
• The title will no longer crash when the TBM 930 package is deleted

 

INSTALLATION ISSUES

• The install process will no longer be blocked after a partial decompression of a package
• The install process will no longer be blocked when a local user account includes non-ASCII characters
• The install process will no longer be blocked after a failed connection to servers
• The install process will no longer display an empty onboarding screen under certain conditions
• The title will download a critical missing/deleted package to access the main menu even if the save data preference is set to offline (when an internet connection is available)

 

CONTENT MANAGER

• The title will no longer automatically download packages that have been deleted through the content manager
• The content manager will no longer get stuck in an infinite loading state when checked offline
• The Creator name of the packages should now be properly updated

 

SIMCONNECT

• Significant FPS drop when using Simconnect should no longer affect the experience

 

OPTIMIZATION

• The performance of the title has been improved when the Display name plate option is set to active

 

MARKETPLACE

• The correct currency is now properly updated in the marketplace

Thanks for the post!  Gives some good insight into some of the issues with the installations too that people can check in the meantime (Like username cahracters)

Seems to be all critical issues and nothing else. Surprised its taking them that long to fix these and address nothing else.

Thanks for the update. No surprises for me in time or scope. The issues addressed are complexities that are critical to basic functioning amid hundreds more I am sure in upcoming weeks. On we go!

Yikes. I was expecting more in the update.

Live Weather/winds not addressed = no go for me. Until they fix this, I'm still staying with P3D.  Not going to get something that will simply just frustrate me. If I want that, I can go to work. 

I read that Asobo has over 100 people working on this title. If this is all the update fixes, then they must have had some massive issues with their code that it took so many to fix what is posted above.

They fixed simconnect, and that makes me a happy camper. I haven't been able to fly on vatsim or use my logitech panels, and I'm eager to get them into my new sim 🙂

Seems about right. Addressing the issues which got the most press and cause the most frustrations first. I'm sure they've been working late hours trying to debug the entire installation process. Most of these bugs are hard to replicate.

I'm sure they have teams working on fixes to aircraft / weather, but those are probably larger in scope, and probably not enough done in the time it takes to release the patch. My guess is many of the team members are probably taking time off after launch, as happens quite often with these types of projects.

It's just sad that due to the MS decision to use their own store, the team has to put so much focus on the download/installation component, and not even the game itself.

'Reduce' ... this sounds careful ... it should have read 'eliminate'.

I’ll admit I was also a bit disappointed to not see this one on the list. I can deal with the bad autopilots for a while.

usually the month of august in France is the month which 80% of employees take their vacations, this may explain why this update is disappointing. Sadly we will have to wait a couple of weeks to get some interesting stuff fixed (weather)

Have you tried live weather with multiplayer off, works for me now

LOL, let me tell you how this works in software industry. There are no vacations pre or post go-live.
