Asobo is now focused on the XBOX version. That's where their attention is. That's where their time will be spent hereafter. If you want major updates to the sim, buy an XBOX Series X and the XBOX version of Flight Simulator when it's released. Our current PC version is simply the continuation of the beta testing.

Really? there is monthly update for PC and they stated it won't go to xbox until the pc version is solid. You wont see any xbox version anytime soon. To avoid any speculation read MSFS DR MAP, MSFS Web site, interview from MS staff this is the only official information.

TLDR: Fixes for other aspects of the game will come during the next 3 months.  But it will be done on a priority basis and the priority right now are people who can’t even install the game.

Which seems like a perfectly reasonable priority set. I don’t get all the “Waaaahhh, you didn’t fix MY problem yet!” from people clearly already using the software. The entitlement around here...

I wonder if it's possible for them to fix that bug on the azure side, and wouldn't need a client fix. Hence the not mentioning it. Just a guess, of course.

I hope so. We weren't even getting 225/3 winds day one and now we are, so you may well be right.

The way it looks to me they didn't choose. Microsoft choose for them.

Maybe it wasn't their choice but they surely would of pointed out that in August that they will have an reduced amount of staff ready to respond to possible problems after launch if MS choose to launch in August, either way it was bad planning by either Asobo/MS if this is an issue, but who knows holidays might have been cancelled around the date of launch. Launch day is probably the most critical time in any given project.

Yeah, spending $120 and being disappointed when major functionality in the software isn't just buggy but flat broke makes us entitled.

Good grief.

Yes, obviously fixing the install bugs is most important. Obviously their software teams are working hard. I don't doubt the scope of the difficulty involved fixing these bugs. Most rational people I've read here and the official forums are on the same page.

However, it's not really that much of an understatement to say half of the entire world isn't getting real weather. That seems like a critical bug to me. They won't acknowledge it. We'll more than likely go well over a month with this bug as it stands. That's absurd

Hopefully they expand their issue tracker to be more expansive.  But it appears to be showing just the top ten.  I don't think they are unaware of it but it doesn't come near the top 10 issues as they see it.

So if anyone has done professional software development, there are teams assigned to specific parts of the game.  I recall Asobo mentioning they have a team dedicated to autopilot.  There is probably a team that is designated to X-box compatibility and X-box release.  So the X-box release of this game won’t impact continued development of autopilot, planes, weather, etc.

Having said that, they may have a general testing team.  If they have a general testing team, that team has been diverted to testing the installation fixes over the last week.  So it would explain why the other fixes aren’t ready for release yet- because they haven’t gone through strenuous  testing.  The other explanation is, Asobo doesn’t see the other fixes as high as a priority so perhaps they want to give more time to develop & test those fixes and get it right before they release the fix - in which case, they are right because installation fixes are the highest priority and they have to deploy the installation fixes ASAP.

TLDR: Fixes for other aspects of the game will come during the next 3 months.  But it will be done on a priority basis and the priority right now are people who can’t even install the game.

Hey look, a reasonable person with some idea of how software development works, lol.

I think the spiciest of hot takes in this thread has to be the one about everyone at Asobo moving over to the Xbox version of the sim, as though that's how... ANYTHING... works.

You don't need an entire studio of dozens or hundreds of people shifted to work on a software port to another platform that also runs Windows and DirectX   Some people will absolutely be reassigned to work on the Xbox port now, but it won't even be a majority of the team, let alone nearly ALL of them, lol.  Yeesh.

Microsoft prioritized the PC version of Flight Simulator first, because they understand that the sim's future is ultimately on PC.  Xbox users might mess around with it for a while, but it's gonna be PC people like on this forum with their yokes and pedals and boards of fake metal A320 switch panels, who ultimately give this product the 10 year lifespan they are hoping for.  And they KNOW that.

If you're someone who thinks the sim probably needed at least a few more months to cook before releasing (like me!), then just grumble about Microsoft pushing out a sim before it's ready, consider this a paid public beta period (or get a refund), and strap in for the long haul.

Microsoft Flight Simulator can’t please everyone. There will undoubtedly be die-hard members of the flight sim community who find that certain things are missing, while others new to the idea might find it overwhelming. But what Microsoft is shipping from day one looks like it will be an incredible technical achievement, one with a central idea so compelling that it should be easy to appreciate the release for what it is.

And this is only the first step. “When I pitched this product, the thing that Phil [Spencer] said to me was, ‘Hey, Jorg, if we go in, we’re going to stay in,’” Neumann says. “We know we can’t just go make a product and boogie and do something else. That is not how this works. We’re taking on a responsibility here for a hobby, and people trust us and we know that. It is our oldest franchise in the company. It is older than Windows and Office. It has a special place.”

Everyone breathe.

being disappointed

Being disappointed is fine. Claiming it’s “a scandal” that your personal functionality fetish hasn’t been addressed (as has been on this very thread), less so.

'Reduce' ... this sounds careful ... it should have read 'eliminate'.

Yes. 'Reduce' is a safe word. 'Eliminate' is an absolute goal and a strange bedfellow in the world of software development.

'Hopefully eliminate for the foreseeable future' would have been a more revealing response!  🙂

They are going crazy in the official flightsim forum. You haven't seen nothing yet reading here. I think Microsoft need to improve their comms a bit. Set expectations.

Just had a look. Can’t continue reading it. I know we scuffle sometimes here at Avsim, but the level of maturity over there seems teenage!

That's a poor excuse, they chose to release in August not us.

Microsoft probably chose august, not asobo.  This is just what to expect when a product is rushed.  I personally would rather fly it in its current state than wait 4-6 months for a more polished state.  I would bet that most people who have played have enjoyed a good portion of their experience.  Isnt that better than waiting a long time from now to even try it?

Link?

No need link since it's invented, listen to official statement here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Rl_onmgoV8&feature=youtu.be&t=2997

There will be several FREE update for SIM (improvement\new feature) and Free World Update ( Bing map\modelled airports\activity), official DR MAP\ MSFS Web site will give you all information you need. This is 10 years development process.

I wish they at least had the decency to acknowledge the f***** issue. JFC

They've known about this issue for quite a while. It was front and center in beta.

Why there are so many complains about the update? You guys think devs have no life and should work 24/7?
