Actually the fact they will eventually release a development road map sounds like a step in the right direction, gives me hope this isn't going to be a project left unfinished. I agree they are a little short on proper communication. There might be a good reason though, they may be scared to make promises that they cannot keep, so they are only giving us what they know to be true and fixable in the short term, and don't want to over-promise until they know development of a given issue is near completion. Asobo (according to the Wiki) has 140+ employees and 7+ mil in revenue, that sounds like a lot, but that is a small company compared to Microsoft obviously. I think we can commend them for at least meeting the deadline they (and Microsoft) set. I have to say that this is FAR from a disastrous release, given the scope of the project and how small of a company they are, I would say its a success and a good start. That said, that will ONLY remain true if they continue development, at least long enough to get the major holes out (like in the SDK). Here is what you have to realize in a dynamic situation between two companies like this. Asobo knows their future growth and future deals with other large companies (whether MS or others) may hinge on how well this product goes. Asobo has typically been a custom game dev that does huge contracts for other companies to build games that other companies want to build, rather than Asobo going out on their own to build games they think would do well (which is how some companies work). Though I'm sure they've done a few internal projects as well. They've contracted with Disney, Pixar, and Microsoft in the past (among others). However, never before has any product they've been working on been under quite as much worldwide scrutiny as this. So Asobo likely is concerned about the bugs, but they also don't want to misstep and create anymore broken promises. August 28, 20205 yr This update includes a weird statement : we are hard at work updating the feedback snapshot and development roadmap, which we hope to release within the next few weeks! Weird or should I say worryingly honest ? Litterally it means that they will spend weeks to compile issues (feedback snapshot) and to elaborate a new development roadmap. Weeks of « hard work » when the main bugs in the release product have been known and reported for months in the alpha ? And didn’t they already have a roadmap to correct them ? My explanation is that they are well aware of what to do to remedy a problematic release but it comes in collision course with what they intended to do : releasing new developments like VR, or helis or DLC for the holidays. A strategic choice : do we correct the bugs and enhance the aircraft systems or do we put more products on the market. I suspect (no proof) that after a boom (minus the refunds), the sales have significantly slowed down due to the forum hearsay of bugs and disappointing aircraft. The second wave which follows the early adopter one may be a bit late to show up. That they start by correcting the installation issues makes sense for everybody, them and us. But, on Day 9, they do not want to commit themselves beyond without weeks of reflection, to correct the bugs and deficiencies affecting the content. I am neither pessimistic nor optimistic on what will happen. Just pragmatic. It is delusional to think that MS will invest resources in correcting the deficiencies of the release out of their good heart if the users are not vocal enough. August 28, 20205 yr Commercial Member Looks like this is a great time for the release of P3Dv5.1😄 In jurisprudence, there is a principle - you look for the person who benefits.
August 28, 20205 yr I’m pleased they are acknowledging the simconnect CPU load issues. It’ll be interesting to see how well the fix works.

Yeah, that seems more like hotfix patches that you should roll out within a few days, one by one. I'd have hoped at least for a little content update / polishing, which is heavily needed. Happy with MSFS 🙂 home simming evolved

August 28, 20205 yr All this seems to be mainly an "hardcore" simmers "problem", two good friends of mine, never flew a flight simulator before are totally enthusiastic, we fly alot in Multiplayer togheter, hey and they fly with gamepad! 😁 They even dont know whats Simconnect hehe, well we have alot fun.
August 28, 20205 yr Strange update, is it a joke? I can understand they address the most critical problems first but a lot is missing here. Where is the Feature Discovery Series ep9? Or the Feedback Snapshot for the Insiders? I can also understand they are "hard at work" but why didn't they say " the Episode 9 is postponed to the 09.03 or later?" This doesn't cost much energy and it keeps the consistency of the entire plan. Now I feel we know less than a week ago.

It's like the release of this product is the greatest disaster in the history of the world, and no people throughout time have ever endured as much suffering and oppression as flight simmers are now experiencing at the hands of Microsoft and Asobo! 🙄 Edited August 28, 20205 yr by JDWalley James David Walley Ryzen 7 7700X, 32 GB, RTX 3080

I am glad you had. But, what do we want to have at the end of the day ? A visually pleasing game to have fun with friends and thats it, no headache please, or a game with complex functionalities driven by what you call « hardcore » simmers (I would say simmers, no need for the adjective) ? Don’t make me wrong, I don’t mean to be derogatory to what you wrote. Nothing wrong to have good, simple fun, goofing around. Honestly, I look for more. Can we have both ? Maybe. We’ll see when real simcraft will be on the market.
