Next Beta Version 0.8.5 to Release Next Week

Featured Replies

Just for the sake of transparency, this is an "I told you so" post.

Here's my post in the July 23rd Development Update thread:

"The release on August 18 will not be a full release.  It will be a beta release, something like version 0.8.4.

Version 1.0.0 won't be until mid-2021.

Just my 2c."

Here's a reply that got 10 likes and 4 upvotes:

"After years of super-slow development of all of our simulators plagued by some age-old issues, we will finally get a fresh approach with a promising new feature set, worldwide default scenery as never seen before, and 3rd party devs behind it. Like anything new it will come with flaws, but given our passion was more and more entering a dead-end street walked up by grumpy old men (include me here), I find such position just daunting."

I hate being right sometimes.

MS/Asobo should send me a free copy of the sim so that I can participate in the Beta testing.  I'm certainly not going to pay for it.

Please lock this thread. Its pointless/no one cares why someone doesn't want to buy msfs/refund posts like these that mean we have to go to page 7 to find interesting findings about msfs that were posted just today.

The sim has already paid for itself. Considering how many hours I've spent in the air, I couldn't be happier.

How does it feel to be so miserable that you congratulate yourself for being miserable?

Hey on the bright side now that you think you're right you can finally stop camping on the internet, get up from the computer for the first time since July 23, and go take a shower!

Big deal. Most people who know anything about gaming entertainment and particularly this franchise and development knew this was not going to be anywhere near to a perfect release and indeed would have years of updates.

Isn’t that just the beta for the next version? It’s like how there’s almost always a beta of windows next version.

So true.

I suggest all the redundant threads discussing if the sim has been released too early, is unflyable or already enjoyable, if the glass is half full or half empty, how Asobo could fail so badly in doing this or that, with the same arguments being repeated over and over again, get merged into one thread.

That would free up at least five pages on avsim, making it easier to find useful topics for people that are just interested in enhancing their simming experience.
