Quite sad but possible explanation of poor Asobo's quality

Featured Replies

True.  It seems the debate isn't so much about how much value for money the sim is, but about them constantly breaking/changing things.

It is immense value for money (when you compare it to what we have had before), but without wanting to insult the developers at all (whether it be Microsoft or Asobo), they really need to stabilise things a bit now.  And although the sim is generally going in the right direction, I get worried each time an update comes out, and that is not good! 😄

PS.  I see the Xbox development as a good thing if it brings DX12 and optimisations with it.  No matter if they have to scale it down for Xbox, PC users will always have the sliders to play with! 👍

May  be a lousy 100 for you. Last time i checked i worked for my money and my investment in preparation for this sim was well past that.

P3D 4.5:   $200

Orbx FTX Regionals:  $600

PMDG/Majestic Planeware:  $400

HiFi ASN4:  $60  REX Skyforce & Texture Direct:   $60

Modern high end PC:  $3000+

Yoke/TQ/Pedals:   $450

TOTAL:  $4,770

MSFS:  $119 = chump change!  Let me say it again:  chump change relative to what it is, already!

Yes, and when the socalled 'CTD fiasco' occured it was hotfixed w/in a few days.  Of course ASOBO knows exactly what they've done and not done.  The project is massive, is already incredibly well done, and many have had no real problems w/ it so far.

Damnit ... its not enough that the 120 EUR i spent are for the trashbin at the moment, with this calculation i just realized that i also didn't get my 3000 bucks PC and the 450 bucks hardware. Thx for pointing this, i have to contact STEAM about the missing hardware.

I have not had any problems with the sim from the beginning. I have never had a CTDT. Now with the update 5 and hot fix, everything is working well. The controller sensitivity thing is much better. I use all CH Products and have them working well now. I first calibrated the controllers in Windows, then started the sim and calibrated them in the sim in the Controller/CH Throttle Quad/ in the options section. I put each controller at the 0 mark in every window except for the Dead Zone, or Null zone which I have set at 4%. I even have reverse thrust in turbo props like the King Air and the jets like the Boeing 787 by assigning a switch on the CH Throttle Quad to "Toggle Reverse". After touch down hit that switch and advance the throttle levers and i get reverse thrust. Bring the levers back to Idle and hit the switch again and I am in normal forward thrust.

So, I am curious. For those who are having problems, have you added any Mods to the sim, or have you modified any files like the cfg file in the sim that might be causing problems? I know from years of experience with FS that you can mess up all kinds of unintended files by modifying files like the cfg or scenery file or installing freeware mods addon scenery, aircraft, etc.

Sorry sir.. you lost me at P3D.. that forum is below and i have no interest to use those. I left flightsim in when FSX came out because i COULDNT AFFORD a new PC to run it. Additionally you must be well aware that PC software requires a PC and peripherals yes ? OK  So i DID save up and build my pc part by part just for this sim. The costs arernt just 100 dollars as you want to claim. Money doesn't fall off trees and i literally had to dip out of simming for a few years due to the lack of it in the past so telling anyone who spent their money that its just 100 is rather flippant.

Again.. if you want to write off the fact that a large amount of people couldnt even get their word not allowed game to start after MS/Asobo dropped another buggy patch with every previous version also dropping bugs along the way then you do you. As i said i have no problems calling them out on it till they do better.

No one is questioning the fact that the game is next generation. What some of us are calling to attention is the fact that their QA process needs work.

Im gonna be getting an XBox Series X and I hope this game has no huge issues on that platform.I accept that any program at launch (including games) will have bugs and such. They will be ironed out.  It will still be a while before I get MSFS though.

I've wondered about this as well.  I have a clean Win 10 install, and have made zero mods, and won't because of exactly what you point out.  Meanwhile, some are busily trying to preempt internal fixes by searching out and implementing various 'community' hacks.

I never claimed it was 'just $100' that's your misintepretation of what I said, I pointed out compared to what YOU and many/most otehrs already have in it, $119 is chump change for where the product is already.   My point really is simple:  this project is massive, it's light-years ahead of anything before it, so give it some time and aim to provide constructive feedback to the developers.

Disagree. For me, it was the best money spent in flight simming (no, I wouldn't speak on an investment) for a long time.

Plus, I was pretty sure it would require me to buy a new machine, which I was prepared to do if necessary. I was even more surprised to see MSFS run with stable 30fps and no stutters (aside a few very rare loading hiccups when nearing an overcrowded area, which all sims show) in the alpha already. My system is in the sig.

I say, Asobo has done a marvelous work, and I am totally happy with MSFS.

Now there's a great idea--why don't you uninstall it and throw the license for it in the trash bin as well.  You can go over to LM and cough up $200 to play there, or perhaps you can fake being an aviation student and save $150.

You beat me to it as I was going to quote Stratocruiser1. Would be interesting to know how many people have reported issues in the sim with and without modifications?

Disagree.

So you disagree with my MSFS installation that was porked by second update and refuses to reinstallations since then? I'll pass that information to the sim, guess it will work again.

Well as you can see from my post above ITS WAY MORE THAN 119 dollars to get me "in it"... And thats my point. I don't make assumptions for anyone about how much value people put on their money. Its theirs and everyone puts a different value on its importance especially if its in limited supply!

So let me recap if i wasn't clear enough.

1. For me 119 dollars is not chump change

2. For the sole purposes of getting up and running for THIS SIM ALONE. ive spent well over 3 grand in July/August of this year. SO NO i DIDNT HAVE ANYTHING PREVIOUSLY IN IT. But thanks for assuming...

At least it works, i can download it everywhere on an usb stick and install updates without bringing more bugs to it than updates fix.

So, 'give them a pass'?  What a load of genuine unappreciative drivel!  We're all exceedingly fortunate to be able to play for a lousy $100 or so.  So KUDO's to Asobo for the outstanding job well done so far--keep up the great work, most of us get it--disregard the petty whining from a few who can't see the forest for the trees.

Did you even read my post properly? It was responding to the subject of this thread. I've stated elsewhere that I am fairly happy with MSFS on the whole, but my comment on this thread was concerning the poor patches being down to Covid 19 lockdown in France, and that is nonsense. This was what my comment was in relation to. Try and keep up. 🤣

And how much the sim costs is irrelevant to this particular point; MS set the price for that and determined to deliver it at that price, and we paid for that service. It was their decision to charge that amount and so it is up to them to honour it. What other things cost has no bearing on that.
