NIght lighting is fatal- Asobo please read

Not true. People complained quite loudly about the previous lighting.

They complained about the intensity and the colors, and even the time of day the lights activated, as well as the lack of reflections on water (now restored) not to mention the lod radius and probably other things I can't even remember.

They complained about not enough lightning during storms, so we got lightning even with no storms. They complained about lighting and now we have country roads lit up.

One of the issues is as Merlin said in Excalibur. "For it is the bane of men, they they forget".

Even months ago, you can find threads on the Asobo forum about bright night lighting on country roads. Its not a new issue at all, but its now in the Avsim spotlight in such a way that it seems almost like it is.

We do this fairly constantly, swearing that something is newly horrible that (I believe) in fact has not changed much at all.

We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically.

Years ago Orbx was asked about this vis-a-vis P3D, and replied that millions of light poles was an unacceptable FPS drain, especially for something you can barely even see at night when they are active.

good point , but does it still apply now,,? after all we got millions of trees now...?

could be low res light poles,, dont have to be perfect

It seems to be harder to implement on  wide scale than one might think. One problem being how do you get the light poles properly oriented towards the road. Over at Outerra, they are facing exactly this issue right now, and short of hand-placing the lights, they are struggling to come up with an accurate way to auto-place and correctly orient light poles, especially in cases of multiple lane highways.

X-plane seems to do it, but (I believe) they kind of cheat by making the poles an integral part of each road. I suspect we pay an FPS price for it, as well.

well atleast they managed to put the landing gear on the correct side of the airplanes...

I don't know yet with v1.10.7, but the King Air in previous version was clearly illuminating the ground when looking in external view but not from the cockpit.

Ok, I just gave it a shot, and it seems that you can indeed see these (super bright) lights from inside the plane.

EDIT: It does seem however, that this solution not only brightens aircraft lights, but all lights.

If you wanna' see what ultra-bright night lighting really looks like, this will do it!!

I find that hard to imagine. I go hiking at that heights regularly and I NEVER have experienced or met anyone who got hypoxia at that low an altitude

Let me know when you start flying 😉

5000 ft makes sense  , Denver is a little over 5k and ive felt the altitude traveling there from lower states just because I wasnt used to it... SO yah 5k sounds low at first but it makes sense and if u hike regualry at 5k or higher your probably just used to it, And someone that lives ner sea level would feel it.

there is no doubt that the night lighting is much worse than it was before … it looks more XPLANE now !!! Where the colors are???, everything is two-tone!!!, cities look lifeless … and those empty spaces where there was lighting before…
Let me say briefly, PLEASE FIX THE NIGHT LIGHTING, IT LOST ALL ITS UNIQUE CHARM !!!

I agree.  I think Asobo should implement an night lighting options system so we can control the light intensities.  The night lighting (at least at my location KACV area) is so much more unrealistic now. In fact the sim is adding lights that are not there IRL.

Kind regards,

Tim

This is the post from the official forums that I was referring to that compared the much darker night lighting in the release version to the alpha build. As can be seen from that analysis, the TAA in the release build added a "dark halo" to the light orbs which made them a lot less pronounced, especially into the distance where they appear to not be there at all even though they are actually still there. The alpha build screenshots there look closer to the patch #5 look, though patch #5 might've overdone the intensity of the light orbs just a tad bit too much.
