(if they think of it at all) I'm sorry this night lighting issue has to get fixed. We don't need FS2020 looking like older sims at night, what's the point then? Also reports are it was great in the Alpha stages yet Asobo changed it. That would be an option to re-explore but to drop it like this is unacceptable. It was decent in the last version and all some users were saying was there was room for improvement. I have full confidence Asobo will find the right combination to make the night look amazing again. Again maybe going back to what the Alpha version was would be the best course of action as they already developed that and the beta team loved it. Anyone who's ever flown at night knows what we have now is way off. So it is less realistic in the eyes of people who fly planes in real life do you mean? Could the night lighting also be aesthetically pleasing to people who have not flown at night at the same time, regardless of the realism. What i mean is is there a contradiction here that Asobo have to somehow balance?

Guess the folks that dont like the lighting change want to look down at a black mass of nothing Im all set boring - realistic or not its better (more emersion for me anyway) yes I luv how xplane does it Right now to me seems like best of both worlds like a combo MSFS - Xplane look appearance currently - and by the way MSFS doesnt compare to airport lighting Xplane has its freakin awesome I live in the suburbs and all roads have street lights whats this rural roads dont have lights thats BS Edited October 31, 20205 yr by Richard Sennett Rich Sennett

Woman 3: Why not try something totally different. The unicorn rainbow is really adorable. Avsim member: I can totally relate... The suburbs are pretty much what is between the urban areas and the rural areas, i.e. urban -> suburban -> rural. Actual rural roads commonly do not have lights. It's not even uncommon for side roads in many suburban areas to be unlit. It's not like people make this stuff up. PC: I9-10900K, RXT 3090, 64GB RAM, 3840x1080 49" super-ultrawide

Isnt it kind of nice to navigate though iff rural roads are lit up, especially around the area you live?

Maybe, but it would be nice if the sim can reflect things realistically. After all this is a flight sim not Ace Combat. October 31, 20205 yr Well looking more and more like having lighting options would be a great compromise - Asobo and 3rd party - 3rd party addon would be a 2 second purchase for me - I like options Rich Sennett
October 31, 20205 yr Lol, im not looking for a shoot-em-up! just a bit of flying. Anyways i hope over the next few months the upgrades keep most of the people here happy
October 31, 20205 yr 14 minutes ago, icewater5 said: most of the people here happy That's the main issue. Typically when people are happy with something they stay more quiet about it. But if there's something they don't like in a product they'll squeal. As a result 90% of a userbase can think something is perfectly fine but if the 10% all band together and shout it'll seem like a big problem. Suddenly an update is pushed and 10% are happy and potentially 90% are not. Uh oh! Thus software development is full of dilemmas. As always I can nothing but respect LR, LM and Asobo for dealing with developing a simulator because dam! P3Dv4 + XP11 MFS

Complaining is good at times of course, but when it gets too much it can get almost like mild hysteria and loses its focus while the silent majority are having fun or figuring out workarounds, addons and so on. Bless the developers.

Bottom line is it’s easier said than done. There is no global data regarding road lighting, which means it has to be manipulated by hand, which really isn’t practical. There is no good algorithm to calculate this. Think about it, if it was easy, it would have already been done.
