October 30, 20205 yr They hoped they'd be in a position to release it today. They weren't. I'm not sure what "truth" you're referring to. The English is pretty straight forward. Edited October 30, 20205 yr by spacedyemeerkat

The chance that something will break for you is very low (not impossible, but very unlikely, assuming you download the patch successfully). I think its more than CTD because I am finally able to install the update. Before Hot fix I could not even find my MSFS in windows store without doing a search and then I only had option to 'play' the game and it never stopped to download anything....straight to welcome screen. Today I still had to search for MSFS, but it stopped to update in the MS store and now its downloading the actual update. keeping fingers crossed that I don't have anymore show stoppers. Robin

They are asking that perfectly sound and reliable addons do not have to go through hoops to be recognised in the community folder which is precisely what Asobo created for addon and mod content. It is a core part of their promotion of the sim. These mods and addons are not bugged, or at least not so they don't work at all. They having only stopped working because Asobo by accident or other means changed without notice how a community addon was recognised by the sim. I'm just finishing a mod whose liveries loaded perfectly two days ago but the next day did not. The reason they didn't is because they now need much more convoluted layout files, model cfgs and folders which they did not need before. It's one thing to ANNOUNCE that these changes are now required, but it is crystal clear this was not a policy decision but an accident or a lack of checking. October 31, 20205 yr Quote Before Hot fix I could not even find my MSFS in windows store without doing a search and then I only had option to 'play' the game and it never stopped to download anything....straight to welcome screen. No hot fix has been released, so any changes in behavior you are seeing are just the general "roll the dice and see how it behaves today" experience Quote I'm just finishing a mod Oh boy, better tell my wife I'm going to disappear for a while 😉 Edited October 31, 20205 yr by marsman2020 AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals

The liveries for the two planes I downloaded from the market place are all there at least. hopefully they get to a better working relationship with the developers. Just got home and tried to update and it worked.... then I saw all this talk about hotfix, so I assumed that there was one. Guess I should have bought a lottery ticket. A shame that getting MSFS to work properly is much like going to a casino...Update is still downloading so who knows.. Robin

Well the lottery ticket probably would have been a waste....download completed but now MSFS loads to the point where I see the info re Japan improvements and then CTD. Guess more waste of time reading the forums in hope of finding a fix. Why the hell is it like going to the dentist every time there is an update.. Robin
October 31, 20205 yr I hope the hotfix is optional. LOL! My update has been flawless other than I had to find about (6) updated 3rd party mods after the update. All I need is for the hotfix to break me instead! Do not believe that concern is a s-t-r-e-t-c-h. October 31, 20205 yr "But if the cause is what I think, then the CTD will simply be a fix on how the controller profiles are read." I agree. If I switch to using some of my many old controller profiles, then it is an immediate CTD. Others of my old profiles I can switch to and they work just fine. The test is to temporarily remove all profiles from the profile folder that start with inputprofile_ and then see if MSFS boots up. And then start adding them back one by one unit it won't boot. Then you know that profile is a bad one. But now Asobo is going to fix it anyway, so they say. On steam the folder which holds the controller profiles (you read them with notepad) is something like: C:\Steam\userdata\94959374\1250410\remote 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel.
