Carenado PA44 mini review

Recommended Posts

Video?  Cruise: 130 KTAS?  Seriously?  Error in the graphic or did someone not do his/her homework?

Ok, I couldn't help myself and Carenado got some more of my money.  Nice to hear the Mooney fix is coming soon but have a question about the PA44.  I have a lot to learn with this plane for sure.  Is there anywhere to set the altitude for the AP? I figured out how to get it to follow the GPS but can't find anywhere to set the altitude.

I managed it by turning on vs and dial up or down with the knob to the right as desired, and the re-engaged alt when I was at my altitude.

with that said, I see no fuel flow gauge, and the egt doesn’t seem to move irrespective of any changes to the mixture.

So guys I cut my engine secured it. Make an approach then went around and landed again. "Slip the ball rase the dead"!

I did the same thing with the VS and pushing ALT when I was near the altitude I wanted.  Definitely not as easy as the G1000 AP.  Gotta see how my RSG AP panel interfaces with the PA44's AP.

I was able to lean the mixture using the EGT gauge as a guide.

I'm curious. I've not come across this phrase regarding sideslip.

I noticed this in the aircraft selection screen but in sim I have had no problem cruising around 155 knots at relatively low altitude (3500 feet).

From the official forums. I don't have the plane so can't confirm or deny but maybe someone here can.

OMG — Its basically working with a 2D Panel !!! No perspective at all – no matter what angle you look at the panel, with items close to you, like the Throttle Quadrant, they remain LOCKED over the background, as in 2D

There is no relative movement between foreground or background objects.

If you cannot see a gauge, because something is in the way, it does you no good to move your viewpoint with the mouse (or Track IR)

Its Pre- FSX !!!

Looking at the screenshot above, it has a certain flatness to it... there may be credence to this... more hurried output...  then when looking at some others, it has the typical @Carenado visual attractiveness.... I will wait for some detailed reviews AND THE MOONEY FIX before deciding.

Panels are definitely 3D, not sure what that person is on about 2D panels...
