Sack the Saboteur - Seriously!...

There was always a method to fix the ILS issue manually, but it was extremely technical and confusing and a bit labor-intensive, it was something only a few people knew apparently. The new ILS editor did not fully fix the issue really, well sometimes and sometimes not, but I haven't tested it fully yet. Since the A/P has issues anyhow, even if it did fix it, not sure how much it would help.

As far as mods go, most will not cause issues, there are a few that can cause CTD's, but it's a very low %. Some will cause graphical issues, like runway textures disappearing or floating buildings, but it usually only happens to the area they are modding, so it should be quite obvious.

Flying the simulators is my interest.  Servicing them I'm largely over and done with.  But some, I feel, are at least as interested in tinkering as they are w/ using the software, which I appreciate troubleshooting and seeing results is rewarding.  In the past especiallly I think one reason FSX/P3D does not enjoy a larger audience has to do with what is required to make them work.  It's so much better now of course but in the not too distant past it seems it was a lot of a tweakfest and one needed some advanced level of experience in desktop computing to play well.  Those days now are mostly gone, and I am happy to oblige.

I totally understand, the addon thing can get tiring. However, scenery addons are simple, it's the other addons that are more in-depth, the ones with actual interfaces and menus and stuff, those are the ones that take maintenance and updates. Most scenery is just set it and forget it, update them maybe once or twice a year.

That said, it's slightly simpler now-a-days, thanks to NVME drives its so fast to move stuff around, plus you can cut/paste the entire communitry dir in one go. Xplane was a lot of trouble with addons, and FSX was just because there were TOO many to load simultaneously.

I have only tried it for airports that I already had a blank slate on (hence airports I was building from scratch).

The ILS editor is in the dev mode, the issue you will have is that (AFIK) you cannot edit default airports without first replacing the airport with a somewhat blank or exported XML file. It's a full blown development process. It's not that hard to follow, but it is XML and development process and most of this info is found in a different forum. A developer forum and I don't think I'm allowed to post links to it. Not discouraging you though, if you want to get into the dev side, you just have to follow some tutorials, maybe start with Youtube.

Thanks for the info! I've grabbed the SDK and watched a couple of videos. I may have a tinker with it after all - thanks!

I don't think Its a terrible piece of software, but I think the guy who said it was more a Multiplayer role playing game than a sim was not far off in his description, whilst it obviously fits in the flight sim genre the developers bias towards exploration and eye candy has come at a cost in Flight dynamics and systems realism and accuracy.

X-Plane's flight models combined with a bug free version msfs visual world would do it for me, but we can only have one or the other right now.

I’ve uninstalled MSFS a few weeks ago and haven’t looked back. Having a blast with amazing addon aircraft in P3D5.1. 😄

The Freeware Msfs Addons linker completely eliminates and manages all of your community folder. Now I only fly with the addons I need for that flight.

It is the best. You need to try it before you complain about how complicated it is to manage your community folder.

Yes, ridiculous isn't it?  Still too many 'I'm going back to' messages again.  Taunting, childish, and unhelpful.  Says more about the poster really.

I am not walking away from MSFS, I just want things fixed-up  a bit quicker so I can get on with it.

Call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind, but I prefer Rob.

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Glad I never felt the need to goto the P3D forum and announce, I'am not going to install P3D again and I've moved on...O and lets add the 😄😄

Really I would just be making a fool of myself.

Taunting, childish, and unhelpful come to mind a few more but there words not allowed.

LOL!  If you live long enough you get to the point where servicing anything no longer seems to feel as necessary as it once did. I’ve been gaming since Commodore 64 days. Constantly chasing very expensive hardware and builds just to be able to get a decent experience out of the latest titles. I hit 3/4 of a century in a few days and I no longer worry about a lot of this stuff. Constantly chasing perfection can be one of life’s biggest time wasters. Any way you look at it this is an amazing piece of software. I mostly just use what works and avoid what doesn’t. It helps to know someone is out there working on it. Really understanding settings and configuration really helps smooth the bumps ( and your anxiety)

What says even more about the poster is that looking at his post history, he specifically decided to jump into this forum just to add that pearl of wisdom, as a vast majority of his history is in the P3D forum.  Kind of sad, really.  Things must really be slow over there.  But let's remember, it's deadly serious on that side of the fence because P3D is not licenced for use as entertainment.

Why is everyone jumping on him for saying he's gone back to P3D? How is that taunting and childish? Did I miss something?
