CRJ!

Well, yes and no. Most CRJs don't have an autothrottle, but an aftermarket one can be fitted, since there was such a system developed for the Challenger 601 the CRJ is a derivative of, however, it isn't as much of an issue as one might imagine. The CRJ is usually flown on short hops, and that means there is a fairly small amount of time in cruise where an autothrottle really is useful, on climbs and descents, it is entirely possible to set a decent setting with the FADEC anyway. Beyond this, not having an autothrottle means less maintenance, less expense and less requirement for training. All of the above is why lots of regionals such as the CRJ don't have an autothrottle as standard.

My experience tells me that an AT is very helpful during climb and descent when you get speed restrictions from ATC or as per procedure. In cruise it's basically setting a certain cruise power and thats about it.

They say the price will be cheaper than the P3D version because of the wider audience it will reach. Interesting, that makes sense, and is probably why so many things on the market place are cheaper than their P3D/FSX counter-part (if there is one)

The first airliner jet in MSFS - without much care about the SDK (as Mathijs Kok wrote) - is going to be interesting. I am looking forward the discussions about it.

Umberto at FSDT let slip on the P3D forum that their MSFS version of KORD v2 (I think it was?) has already outsold their P3D version of it, despite being available for a small fraction of the time, and missing lots of add-ons that don't exist for the platform yet like GSX.

He also let slip that Microsoft's cut of in-game marketplace sales is 30% (which is what I expected - it's the same licencing cut Sony and Microsoft take from game sales).

As the first fairly complex jet add-on for MSFS, Aerosoft are going to make a mint on the CRJ unless it's complete trash.

Not very enthusiastic about this one. As already mentioned by others, the CRJ for P3D was a bad experience.

Yep, Asobo getting advice from those clowns at Aerosoft for how to code the SDK will be their downfall. Scenery they produce and aircraft are no were near top tier. Even their so called "Professional" scenery is a slap in the face to everyone that calls themselves a professional.

I dont think it needs to be top tier. I always read on this forum phrases like "top tier" and  "study level" as if thats all that matters but what you are really describing is a niche within a niche. The vast majority of simmers i believe buy mid level planes since they don't want to spend 2 hours preparing a flight or simulating a pressure failure. Its why Aerosoft products like their A320 have been very successful. Many of us don't want to pay $140 for a plane.

Aerosoft are clearly going for the mainstream sim market rather than the much smaller hard core market. Nothing wrong with that.

Sorry, the CRJ was a garbage can in P3D and I personally don't expect it to be any different as it is the same dev.

I have my reasons, what are yours?

Maybe some have forgotten that there were two versions of this CRJ. I never bought the upgrade even though it was on sale. The one thing that's intriguing for me is the look of the VC. Lets see how it flies.

 Irreparable bug.

Sound like Hartman skin is very thin for being in this business for that long. If I was Asobo I'd rather partner with A2A

It looks like they are taking advice from the wrong developers.

We don't mean to be a word not allowed. It's just that v1 brings back some bad memories for those who put their trust on the project. Never got a refund and they wanted to charge me an upgrade price for v2.

To give you an example. Almost every flight I did on the original CRJ, it ended in a CTD. At least I got some value out of the X-Plane version. JRollon's version wasn't perfect. but at least I could complete flights.

It's a pretty strong business strategy. The expectation that most people are in the middle of the bell curve and will buy an relatively detailed airliner, rather than a basic, no-frills one or an every-system-replicated, highly complex one.

That's not the point @B777ER was making though.
Aerosoft's airliners have a history of issues, which means they should not be the partner of choice when it comes to aircraft coding and developing the SDK.
There's a reason why other aircraft developers have much better reputations and their products are held in high regard.

A developer can choose to 'dumb down' an aircraft and not use all the features of the SDK.
Creating a 'smarter' and more complex airliner than the SDK allows is harder and requires lots more extra work. So why not build the platform correctly at the start?

Pre-release threads on avsim are usually just as entertaining as the post-release ones.

The rule is: if you don't like something, it's not just enough to not buy it, you wanna start a Long thread about it.

Even more bizzarely, on avsim folks  buy stuff they don't like, and then keep on buying it (Carenado).

Completely defies logic and reason.

Please use the search function in the forum, by key words like "CRJ for P3D", for example. You'll find useful information.
