CRJ!

Yet another untapped target market for them to disappoint.

Sorry, the CRJ was a garbage can in P3D and I personally don't expect it to be any different as it is the same dev.

There are also bad pilots.

Not very enthusiastic about this one. As already mentioned by others, the CRJ for P3D was a bad experience.

If it really is released shortly suggests that it uses the Sims AP and FMS functionality.

Why would otherwise PMDG, Leonardo or FSLabs not be able to release their aeroplanes earlier?

I'm curious.

Nope is full custom autopilot. According to Matijis Kok is basically the autopilot as the P3D version.

in one post, Mathijs mentioned that they already had access to the SDK since some time and hence they started early on it

I flew the Aerosoft CRJ for P3D v5 a lot.  I read complaints about it but it was all nitpicking nonsense, like the flaps placard said 215 knots instead of 210 knots or something stupid. Never had issues with the CRJ other than performance related, which shouldn't won't be an issue in MSFS based on my experience with the A320 thus far.

Yup, the Aerosoft CRJ was nowhere near as bad as some people crack on. There were a lot of people crying over really minimal issues. Quite a few 'problems' with it were less a case of problems and more a case of being unable to fly any airliner without it having an autothrottle to hold your hand and a magenta line to glue it to.

With all the heat so far this simulator had been taking I hope they don’t rush it. This simulator needs a testament to show it can support high level airplanes.

P3D guys love to do that dont they 😄

I like regional jets. I didn't hate the CRJ in P3D, but it was a bit of a stutterfest. I'll definitely be watching this one.

Well, yes and no. Most CRJs don't have an autothrottle, but an aftermarket one can be fitted, since there was such a system developed for the Challenger 601 the CRJ is a derivative of, however, it isn't as much of an issue as one might imagine. The CRJ is usually flown on short hops, and that means there is a fairly small amount of time in cruise where an autothrottle really is useful, on climbs and descents, it is entirely possible to set a decent setting with the FADEC anyway. Beyond this, not having an autothrottle means less maintenance, less expense and less requirement for training. All of the above is why lots of regionals such as the CRJ don't have an autothrottle as standard.

How study level is it? Are the engines unique? (Slightly different EGT / Oil Pressure / etc), ability to mismanage systems? (Overheat / melt brakes on RTO) or is this low - mid range?

Don't take my questions the wrong way. This is exciting I just want to know what I'm in for when I buy.

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

By that time (v5), the CRJ was fine.

When released, which was during the 4.x days, it was not ready for prime-time.
