RTX3090, how would MSFS 2020 RUN?

That is likely an artefact of CPU loading.

I actually gave trackIr it's own core in Process Lasso and increased it's priority. I have a 6 core CPU ( i5 8400) so restricted MSFS to cores 1 to 5 and locked trackir to core 0 . It does seem to help be interested to know what other people find.

Note that personally I cap my FPS at 36 fps (one quarter of my monitor native freq of 144hz)

I also do something like you, my sim wants core 19, so I run TrackIR first, then take it off 19 and also 0-13, so it runs off 14-17.

You should ask him if he's interested in PMDGs 777 or equal addons. If not why should he run it? Makes no sense.

Yesterday i gave the 30Hz thing another try and i admit there is somehing like a "feel of smoothnes" as soon as you are above a certain height. But taxiing around or flying low level you just cant oversee the low refresh rate. Just observe the ground movement. Not to mention the Camera panning.

All in all i am happily willing to trade some graphical detail such as lowering the shadows and playing in 1440p to play in 60hz (anywhere in the world as you said). Even though i barely leave central Europe....

Yes your seeing what 30Hz does, on my new PC on LOD 200 etc and full Ultra I can run 60-70 FPS. So I cap at 40 for the very reasons you point out. I hope to fly the PMDG N3 and FSL ASAP but I hope I can still run 40 FPS at 1440p one of the many reasons why I went for 1440p over FPS killer 4K.

IMO my new PC with a 1440p screen is a perfect match. 4K imo is a huge compromise as I am free to max out setting and still have head room to spare.

No point it running 4K and turning down setting just to make it run. All the benchmarks show how crushing 4K is on FPS for any sim or game.

But each to there own, 4K is wonderful and come 4080 or 5080 I will move to 4K.

Question for those who own RTX 3090. There are various opinion about different brand or RTX3090 chipset. Gigabyte , Asus, Zotac, MSI, EVGA and etc. Which brand is more preferable for MSFS?

You want a EVGA and FYI the 3080ti is inbound Feb:

SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

If you don’t don’t overclock, then basically any 3090 will do. Get the cheapest (not that any of them are cheap).

ps I’m going to hedge my bets that a 3080ti if and when launched, is only a few hundred £$ cheaper than the 3090.

I agree. The MSRP might be $999 but board partners will be charging $1200+  And reports are talking about a Feb announcement so maybe available by summer.

If only you could choose. I’m only half joking because availability is insanely bad. But if you can choose, the EVGA FTW3 and Asus Strix offer the best clocks out of the box due to higher power limits. But they are also the most expensive. EVGA is widely known to have the best support in North America.

What is the percentage difference in the 'best clocks' over the less clocks?

Scan have a lot of pre orders for both the Asus Strix and tuf, so I expect some wait to get hold of one of those cards.

Mean while others are coming into stock now 🙂

Oh and the FTW3 is currently in stock at Scan £1730 - be quick.

Everything is priced £200-300 higher than release day. It’s crazy.

I've got the Palit gaming pro OC coming, it seems a well built card. But I would have bought a Asus tuf or MSI gaming X trio, both my 970 and 1070 are gaming X's.

Typically Scan now have them in stock. Never mind, although I've setup for the extra power draw of those cards I guess it really doesn't matter 🙄

A few %. If you’re into overclocking you might be able to squeeze a bit more out of them thanks to the higher power limits. But let’s face it, the 3090 is well into diminishing returns territory regardless of what particular card you choose.

Which is why you might as well just purchase the cheapest one...

I just ordered an RTX 3090 again as well.

I've been trying to get an RTX 3080 since launch. I've had 6-7 different orders, but the delivery has been delayed over and over again. My credit card company is probably wondering what's going on with all the cancelled orders.
I've looked at the used market, but people are price gouging. Cards that are €800 new are €1200 on the used market. Cards that are €1000 new are as high as €1500 used. It's ridiculus.

So instead of buying a €1500 RTX 3080, I bit the bullet and ordered a €2000 RTX 3090 with 5-15% better performance and more than twice the VRAM.
Sure, the RTX 3080 Ti is around the corner. But the pricing will be between RTX 3080 and RTX 3090, and availability might still suck.

Hopefully this card will last me twice as long as I usually go between GPU upgrades. Hoping for at least 4 years before there's any need for upgrade.

That was my assumption, AKA much ado about almost nothing.  Never have bothered w/ OC GPUs it's hardly worth it.
