Hmmm maybe i’ll look into that, thanks much. Maybe you have picked up on a myth, MSFS off steam, or on Steam and X-plane on the same machine does not "bog" it down. They have nothing to do with each other (other than taking up drive space) Games on Steam are still on your computer (in order to play) Edited January 17, 20215 yr by jimcarrel Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz (8 cores) Hyper on, Evga RTX 3060 12 Gig, 32 GB ram, Windows 11, P3D v6, and MSFS 2020 and a couple of SSD's
January 17, 20215 yr I have both and I use both equally. It depends on my mood, sometimes I would like to fly zibo and inibuild and sometimes I would like to fly in MSFS. Anyway I think having both installed is not a big deal especially both are low maintenance overhead (comparing to FSX/P3D). So yeah, have both and be happy 🙂 Edited January 17, 20215 yr by omarsmak30 AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 64GB DDR5 6000MHZ RAM, RX7900XT, FreeSync 165hz 1440p display

Now w/MSFS out, there is just a ton more of add-on’s I’m seeing everywhere I look, so that’s one big thing. Second big thing is x-plane has NO actual add-on missions like MSFS had, with voice over, like actual missions. Im a real world 172 recreational pilot & have exhausted all the training aspects that x-plane offers & am now bored with just flying aimlessly. I really miss the exciting missions from MSFS. If the realism of the flight characteristics are close or the same as of x-plane, then why should I stay with x-plane? Any input I’d appreciate, thanks. Sound like it's not a problem with sim but rather with what to do with flight simulations in general. Particularly if you fly different aircraft in each sim. A word of caution with MSFS, things like real world weather (especially wind direction/speed on the ground) and fuel consumption (in default aircraft) are usually far from correct. January 17, 20215 yr I had the same question regarding P3D...so I just bought the basic version of MSFS. Thrilled with the VFR visuals but until they figure out the G1000 autopilot "auto bank" problem, I'll stick with Lockheed for the time being. I’m a real world recreational pilot but there isn’t much more XP can offer me as far as teaching goes, so I think i’m going to move over to MSF. Thanks for the advice it’s been helping me decide. OK ... this video gives examples of both the good and the bad in MSFS ... AIRCRAFT The aircraft is the Carenado Payware YMF-5 CONS Ground handling is truly awful, to get it under control on take off at all you need full Nose Up trim or stick fully back, even then it tends to want to go off in random directions as seen in the video. PROS The 3D model is fantastic, Once airborne it flies quite nicely (possibly but not necessarily anything like the real thing) and is great fun , in the video the stall horn is going off but that is partly because I left the trim at Full Nose Up in preparation for landing again. SCENERY CONS none really PROS freeware scenery with fantastic attention to detail. OVERALL EXPERIENCE Flying Milford Sound in the snow in the YMF-5 on a larger screen, despite the atrocious ground handling of the payware plane, is a really immersive and enjoyable experience and this sort of flight is the main reason I fly MSFS. January 17, 20215 yr Anthony, Switch toFS2020. FS2020 is a great tool for VFR flying! Since you are a rec pilot, download some detail city centers, you can take out your VNC or VTA and do some local VFR flying to keep your skill current. Do some VOR practicing. The satellite imagery that X-plane or P3D cannot offer for VFR flying
January 17, 20215 yr I would take the plunge. Realistically, compared to what it costs to fly a C172 in real life, the entry cost to MSFS is minuscule. January 17, 20215 yr Whatever you do, do not delete XPlane off your system until you decide at some future data that you are no longer using it.. As Chock said: A 500 GB SSD is all it takes. 😉 Bert

January 17, 20215 yr I'd skip the Deluxe or Premium copies and stick with the standard. Microsoft will not tell you this, but all of their DLC is stuck behind DRM so if you want to change something like the fuel capacity on the CE-700 you cannot do that. Also their DLC is very poor quality even compared to the aircraft in the standard version. I suspect that given time the add-on developers will produce far superior content then what Microsoft provides with their DLC.
