David,

Can you please give me an example of what you mean? Elaborate on this to help Bijan understand how to make these add-ons easy for most users.

Thanks.

Jose

While I appreciate your help for Bijan, it is not that complicated, no? Changelog would already do help big time. Then a consistent naming practice, not once with and once without a point between version numbers. Then, tell simmarket if a file is an update or not. Finally, a simple spreadsheet telling customers which package is needed for which season in each hemisphere. Thats it, stuff customers should be able to expect for a 12€ addon from the first release on, not only after several updates. Every addon on flightsim.to has a better working version history and update notifications...

Asobo is already working on adding seasons to the sim according to the latest development update with a 2021 release date

I've heard it's the same team that's doing weather and ATC.

I'm being facetious. Think back to FSX and P3D and count the addons you have/had which replaced areas that are/were native to the sim itself. Active Sky, Pilot2ATC, EditVoicePack, Opus, FSGRW, Radar Contact, etc.

If you're buying into letting Asobo handle the solution you'll be disappointed. There will always be a market for the little guy who does one thing right.

Carenado or Majestic?

I am still confused how all these work, too. For now, I keep my originally bought 4-season-version which kind of does the job quite well, plus the hard Winter, and this is it. The latest I downloaded, whichever it was, states in the readme it doesn't work with the original UI and you have to copy into the /Community folder manually... with a new UI to follow later.

I would highly welcome a "final" version with a working UI which does all the jobs together and just works.

I keep my reservations, too. It's one thing to subsitute trees, or just "let it snow". It's another one modifying grass, tundra, fields etc. according to four seasons world-wide. I don't recall having seen a working global solution based on aerials for any simulator so far. And recall, the Bijan solution doesn't work for photogrammetry either, so they would have to cope with this, too.

Kind regards, Michael

My opinion on this is the same thing for the weather system, Asobo has promised to deliver seasons that are dynamic and I will wait to give them the benefit of doubt before judging. Also, if we at this point rush to buy add-ones for things Asobo and Microsoft have promised to deliver, it is not the solution in my opinion, if we give up on pressuring Asobo, we will end up with FSX 2.0 that needs a pile of third party add-ones.

Also I agree with others, the whole thing with these seasons packages are extremely confusing, whenever I open simmarket, I see new package and no idea what's the target of it.

Will there ever be a one-stop solution? At best a compromise of what is doing most of what I want. MegaScenery in its ever evolving iterations never got any help from the various shader mods. Still don't see Asobo or their team being THE answer.

This 100%. I am still using the freeware autumn/fall package he released here a few months back. Works fine for me until I see what Asobo come up with.

Asobo has certainly promised a lot. And they've already accomplished a lot. And they have a lot of mediocre. And a lot of just plain word not allowed. And there's no reason to buy anything right now. Flightsim.to is full of freeware that rivals payware available for P3D. Right now Working Title has the Asobo CJ4 working better than anything Carenado has ever published, or ever will publish given their track record.

Not rocket science, but I get it. Some want a more simplified upgrade path.

What is the cheapest way of just having the winter season?

Originally it was released as freeware, think you might still find it listed in some places

Thanks, I had Fall season while it was still freeware, but missed Winter. I don't mind paying for winter season, I just don't want to pay for anything like the hemisphere changes when I really won't be using them.

I bought the multi season v2.
It came with the ability to download the Winter LOD, which I did but didnt install because I wasnt sure if I needed to.
I placed the Winter North/Summer south folder in my community folder and was happy with the new trees.
Im planning on switching that folder out with Spring North/Fall south come March.
Still not sure if I need to put the Winter LOD folder in my community folder as well.
I expect Asobo to offer something like this in time but felt the author has not only shown that it can be done but also his improved work on making things look much better with the new trees and colors and for that a donation via a brought products is my way of saying thanks.

BTW, those with the 4 seasons package should only enable one season at a time.
