Speculative: PMDG Update

I’m the opposite of some of you guys. I’m not buying anything for msfs anymore and haven’t in months. Got tired of waiting for deep simulation aircraft, desktop hardware compatibility etc. there are just way to many aircraft in P3d and xplane right now.

MSFS is 5 month old and you expected payware study level aircraft by now? Jeez some people.

Looking at the Navigraph's survey results, I'd say releasing anything for P3D at this point is a major risk of losing a ton of money. I haven't touched P3D since June of last year personally, good luck with the sales if that's the goal.

Since the 777 update is free, I wouldn't really call that "sales".

And if you're referring to some new project, so far I haven't heard of any new PMDG product for P3D to be sold for money, only of their desire to produce a 737 for MSFS, and if that happens, PMDG are not going to lose a ton of money.  Besides, PMDG's audience are about the aircraft and PMDG, not necessarily the platform.  I think if PMDG makes it, their audience will buy it and fly it, regardless of what platform it's on.

The ER expansion will be. The LR/F is a free update.

agreed, and no doubt there will be on-going performance enhancements from Asobo, but is there also a need for us to be moderating our expectations of what we can enable graphically until hardware catches up? you know - the perennial question when it comes to simulators! 😁

I'm already getting 35+ all the time, often in the 60s/70s. And they haven't even move to DX12 yet. Are we using the same sim?

Adding to the chorus here: I'm done with P3D. I would have been first in line to buy a P3D 777 expansion two years ago, but a lot has changed since then. I'd bought every single PMDG product right up to the NGXu, which I didn't buy because 1) MSFS was on the horizon and I was basically done with P3D, and 2) because there was nothing wrong with my NGX.

I'm probably a good example of what people usually call "hardcore simmers." I've spent more money than I care to think about over the past decade on sim hardware and software, and my flying has been about 95% tubeliners. But times have changed (thank god!) and there's no going back to P3D and its ancient, clunky engine. If PMDG wants my money, they need to release something for MSFS.

James

To be honest, I'm missing the 737 less and less in MSFS, with the amazing progress made by the FlyBywire team I'm almost back to the state I was in P3D with my streams! And with the forthcoming addition of an EFB within the next few weeks I'll be there. So depending on the price I may or may not buy it when it eventually appears. And for long haul, I will have the FBW A380 when it releases, all for free.

That's going to be a long haul wait.🙂

Possibly, but since there's no way to know, it's all rather pointless speculation.

It's like a kill on the Serengeti, though.   Everyone wants in on the action.

Honestly I don't think RSR is stupid, he is a business man and he talks $$. Hence I highly doubt that he would release something new to P3D meanwhile miss the MSFS's huge crowd. I am pretty sure he will bring the airlines into MSFS no matter what, even that uses his influence and Matjias influence to convince Asobo to implement some bits to make it easier for PMDG and other third party developers.
