March 5, 20215 yr Cheese, what's your gripe with Flying Iron's Spitfire??? I think it's quite excellent.

Carenado is tailor-made for MSFS as it exists right now. It's literally the perfect sim for Carenado, and they are wisely taking advantage of this. Maybe you meant that you expected the MSFS flight modelling to be better from the get-go, hence other vendors could/would have possibly stepped into the MSFS waters sooner. If that's what you meant, then yes I agree, I had that expectation too. I think some of Carenado's offerings really benefit from things like the modded GNS530 and that stands to only get better with time. I hope the upcoming aerodynamic update helps matters on the flight modelling front, too. To borrow your phrase...that could turn these "cheerful and bright" add-ons into perhaps something a bit more. I bought quite a few Carenado airplanes for FSX/P3D because they were vastly better than default airplanes and beautiful. Systems not very deep, but all knobs could be turned so that one could at least pretend to follow an amplified checklist. I think this has changed in MSFS. Default airplanes are certainly not study level, but they offer a lot and are visually appealing as well. The market is very small right now and Carenado takes advantage of this by quickly pushing out new airplanes. I bought the C182, mostly because there is hardly anything else right now (I miss the A2A model), but it doesn't feel that much different from a default airplane in MSFS. In the long run, I think Carenado will have to up their game in some way, or they will push out default-like airplanes at a quick rate and a low price. It might work for them, or people will just stop buying their planes. Time will tell. Peter

I was paying Carenado a compliment, and I do think that when you add something like a GNS530 mod it really does complement their aircraft well. Their Phenom 300 is one of my favorite aircraft in P3D, but it wouldn't be my favorite without the GTN750 mod. Rhett 7800X3D ♣ 96 GB G.Skill Flare ♣ Gigabyte 4090 ♣ Crucial P5 Plus 2TB

I guess we were spoiled with the A2A Simulations Wings Of Power Spitfire MK I/II with Accu-sim back in P3D. Absolutley gorgeous aircraft with incredible physics. Probably one of the best ever for P3D. Big boots to fill. Tell you what - I'll buy the FlyingIron and make up me own mind.

Yeah, A2A is hard to beat, though I don’t own that particular one. But this one is still fun.
March 6, 20215 yr Well one of the comments on the first video that was linked up thread is from a pilot who says he got his complex rating in the Arrow and that this Carenado version is not bad at all and goes on to say that it's Microsoft's dynamics that need to be adjusted.
March 6, 20215 yr Ok, I've watched some videos on both the Carenado and JF versions. Sounds are also very important and I love the sounds on the Carenado when it comes to opening and closing the doors but those sounds are totally absent on the JF version.

Think you're watching older videos there as the sounds for those actions are definitely there, trust us. And just a heads up that testing has been taking place over the weekend on the final and full sound-set, new stuff just added include: Heavily optimized engine sounds Sound through window/door Fixed missing ground roll Wheel skidding sounds Typical piper gear whistle
