For people who are suffering performance Issue after Update3

Featured Replies

I am seeing about 10 fps less then previously, around 35 fps in the cockpit view of a Bonanza flying around KMHV with 'HIGH-END' settings except glass cockpit refresh on HIGH.  My GPU use is at only 75%, if it was at 100% that would be 1/3rd more FPS which is exactly the delta I am seeing.  I'm also used to seeing GPU use pegged at 100% while flying.

The dev mode FPS counter is constantly flickering back and forth between 'limited by mainthread' and 'limited by CPU'

FlightSimulator.exe is only using 12% of my CPU.  It looks like it is loading up about 3 cores and that is it.

Something is borked for sure.

I know the 5700XT isn't the most powerful GPU out there but my PC is pretty beefy and they have really wrecked the performance.  I won't even bother trying with my VR headset...

This addresses the performance issue on the most recent update and is a valid fix . Leave vsync on (in the sim) but bring up the framerate limit from 30 to a higher number.

It however does not address the GPU utilization issue brought on by the UK update.

From Day 1, this is always how it's been for my vsync to a 30Hz screen:  I have to set vsync to 60, and get 30fps.

Or try flying at new places that you haven't flown before, I'm curious if anyone can reproduce the issue at a new place they've never flown before.

Happens to me anywhere, any aircraft. Whether it's a literal replay of a saved previously good flight, a recreation of a previous flight (same place but fresh), or a completely new location I've never been before.

Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. Sims in use - 2020, 2024, XP-12 and -11, FSX/SE, P3Dv4.5 and v5.4. DCS and AFS2 installed but rarely used

Interesting, thinking re-install is the best bet unless someone else comes up with a better idea. So just to elaborate on my airport issue,  don't think it's related to this update, just some XML issue that was there before. As far as the FPS issue, I am still testing but my FPS seems relatively ok, but maybe a bit of a hit. Still testing.

Yes this keeps happening regardless of which plane and where. Usually once per short flight.

Additionally, in case that wasn't enough I then had a CTD, which is not normal for my rig. I have upvoted on the forum. It's like they are trying to get rid of us - but were addicted so we don't want to give up... lol

0/10 for this one.

Degrading fps after a few minutes of simming is my vexing and most troublesome issue.

I wonder how many people had to re-install the sim to fix my issue?

If I have to re-install my sim, that would also mean a full OS sim. I hope I don't have to do this every time ASOBO rolls out a major update that breaks my sim.

If you decide to re-install, please let me know how it goes. Tks.

I hear you, well at least you don't have to isolate an XML issue in a text file for a custom airport (not fun let me tell you)

My sim seems ok performance wise, but cannot get my airport working correctly in this version yet. I got older versions to load, so something was inserted somewhere.

Hello,

Last night (french time) i have not noticed any FPS problem during my flight for the first time since last update.

Tested in Salt Lake city

I was thinking last night, that now that my MS 2020 is running perfectly with no more CTDs, I will be dreading the next update. If they cause major problems with the next update, I will start looking for another hobby.

I re-installed and it was still there occasionally (especially over the UK) yesterday. Today i have done 1 flight LOWS-EBBR no issue at all, vsync locked at 30fps.I had also done a flight last night TNCM-KMIA again no ssiues at all, even landing into KMIA, which is a first without the usual stutters.

But over all it's a lot better. Previously i was down to figures like 3fps!! at 30k

I've actually considered re-installing P3D or trying to embrace X-Plane.

I think I will soon start peeking at P3D 😎

Have you tried lowering the LOD slider to 80 as advised by msfs support? I'm about to lower the sliders to 80 to see if I can get rid of the drop in fps after a few minutes of flying.

Yeah, I tried that too... lasted about 5 minutes on P3D graphics. Good luck!

Yesterday I had theese problems. Today they seem to be gone, touch wood. Only thing I did was to remove the cache completely. Also I noticed that I could change airport several times and still get real weather. There are things going on on the server side I believe.
