Just went back and had a further flight and just as bad as yesterday - fly ok for a few minutes then start with the dropped fps, stutters and even occasional freezes. Always (so far) comes back and resumes for a while but no way to fly for more than a few minutes without some kind of interruption. Can't even see any acknowledgement on the Zendesk "known problems" page, and I know plenty of people have reported it. In some ways, the's the most annoying thing about all this - no information from the source means we just get endless "solutions" propagated around the various forums, most of which are pointless and in some cases likely to make things worse. I'm sure it will all work out ok in the end, even if it's never officially acknowledged and therefore "fixed" - they make another change and the non-existent problem will go away. Meanwhile, I'll carry on flying. Even with the occasional slide-show moments I still prefer it to the other sims. Let's hope it gets fixed shortly. Surely they must have enough reports to attempt a hotfix at this point. I just want to go fly. March 12, 20215 yr Just to let you all know..this is not a probelm at all. I took a deep breath and posted on the AS CRJ Topic asking if they could look at the posts I linked showing all the performance problems with the last update and hopefully get Asobo for a HF before they release. The reply was deleted within 5 mins, down voted within 2 mins. With Mr K saying "On none of our systems we see these issues." and the down vote was correct, correct !!!! if you have 1 brain cell. I hate them. https://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/155410-aerosoft-aircraft-crj/&do=findComment&comment=1021367 So guys we are just making it up. Even after dumping a ton of money into Orbx scenery and add on planes for those 2, they still look awful compared to MSFS. There have been enough complaints to Microsoft and Asobo and hopefully it gets fixed. The game's performance has been outstanding for me up to now so this is likely just a bump in the the road. There are people who don't need a break by turning on MSFS only once a month and there are the others. After this last MSFS update, I can guarantee you that ORBX TrueEarth with XP do much better today in this domain. No problem of Trees Popping ,FPS & or jerk etc... Even with the settings to the minimum and even with such a small radius of the tree and so few trees around the plane the fps problem is the same.

I'm hoping the Aerosoft beta testers are also able to reproduce the performance drop and sim pauses to help with troubleshooting. You're right that this will affect launch-day sales otherwise.

March 12, 20215 yr Some people in the official forums have suggested (according to their experience) that this is a memory leak issue. This explains why the sim seems to be running fine for a while, then massive stuttering for a while, and then back to normal. At the same time something happnened with the trees and LOD. The usual fixes (tree distance mods) resulted in some warped trees in the distance and not increased tree distance as intended. So my theory is that Asobo or whoever is working on this, have tried to detach the trees from the rest of the terrain LOD to give everyone a smoother performance. But what happened is lower tree distance (ring around your aircraft) and a memory leak instead. We already know Asobo have spoken about changing how the trees are rendered, because they would introduce a new technique to create denser forrests without needing very thick/wide trees. I think some code from this work was included in the last update unintentionally. And the reason it's difficult to fix is that the devs might sit on versions without this code entirely, even though it was pushed with the latest update. Just a theory. March 12, 20215 yr I will wait to buy the CRJ & PA-28R.It's two planes need a more suitable environment.

I'm not buying any addons for MSFS until they prove that updates will fix more problems than they cause. That's obviously going to be a long time from now, if ever. If I was a 3PD for MSFS I'd be pretty frustrated with all the lost earning potential due to Asobo's updates. Edited March 12, 20215 yr by Jeeper Spelling

Imagine having a clearly defined product roadmap of stuff for P3D and maybe X-Plane (since it seems like a few FSX/P3D devs were dipping their toes in there with 1 or 2 aircraft) and then one day in 2019 (or 2018, not sure when 3DPs might have found out under NDA ahead of the E3 announcement) Microsoft just drops a huge bombshell that they are coming back and wipes out your roadmap. Then you work your tail off to try to get things into the new sim when it comes back to recover....and the new sim turns out to be in the state it's been in for the last 6 months. And you probably can't say anything about it due to not wanting to upset Microsoft. I'd be pretty discouraged. AMD 3950X | 64GB RAM | AMD 5700XT | CH Fighterstick / Pro Throttle / Pro Pedals

You can see that high quality developers like iniBuilds made the wise choice by sticking with X-Plane development for the time being.
