I am not getting the big stutters people have talked about but certain areas I get non stop spiking of "manipulators" combined with an FPS drop and micro stutters. Fly a bit further and suddenly the spiking of "manipulators" stops and so does the stutter. There is nothing obviously different about the places this happens but it is reproducible. I am wondering of it is a mesh issue ? I think it's almost certainly a Mesh issue. I rarely fly anywhere but the south of England and I'm getting exactly as you describe - CPU goes to nearly 100% and the GPU goes ga ga and wallows about on the floor down at 10%. Then, after a minute or so we're suddenly back in business and FPS recovers to green. This can happen anywhere - somewhere it hasn't happened before or it can be unrepeatable by flying over somewhere where it DID happen before. I've tried three different nvidia drivers - same result. I've deleted Rolling Cache (don't have Manual Cache), rebuilt Rolling Cache, Not used Rolling Cache and it's exactly the same problem regardless. The only way you can eliminate it is by flying Offline Scenery and that's just miserable. I think it's something to do with how MSFS is processing mesh and tiles - like it's stuck in some loop. Something screwy in there. Needs a Hotfix ASAP. Look at the oscillation of the GPU when it's on the floor (before red line) and the fact that the RAM has filled - I only have 16 gig but it's never more than 9 gig when MSFS is running. During "the fit" it fills almost to the brim. When it passes the RAM empties out agin to acceptable levels. Edited March 13, 20215 yr by Will Fly For Cheese

March 13, 20215 yr It has nothing to do with virtual memory, by no means for me. Stuttering is always on the river, and not every river. Check out the video, ULTRA settings, i-710700K, GTX 1080Ti. EGCB Manchester river Edited March 13, 20215 yr by PAT_Noe
March 13, 20215 yr Can't say I've noticed it any more or less over water but you may be on to something.
March 13, 20215 yr The fps drop is closely related to the GPU usage in my settings. In some areas GPU usage goes down to 40 to 30 percent or even lower and that's accompanied with a severe fps drop. It interesting. when I press ESC to come to settings window, GPU usage goes up to 100% quickly, but as soon as I press RESUME (without any settings change) GPU usage and fps drop down again. As some others mentioned, it could be connected to a DEM/Memory leak issue too. I experience this mainly when close or over mountains. Sometimes RAM usage is very high an does not recover. It is still very unclear what is going on here. March 13, 20215 yr Normaly this have not to be done; this is a Asobo code, bug or memoryleak and i do not change sometthing that work normal, because this only is a workaround and this fix can cause a lot of problems at all. In the Flightsimulator Forum you can read Asobo is aware of that issue and it is in/on the Tracker so shure we get a fix and hopfully a fast hotfix.. cheers 😉 08.2024 new PC is online : ASUS ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI Mainboard, AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D Prozessor, G.Skill DIMM 64 GB DDR5-6000 (2x 32 GB) Dual-Kit, MSI GeForce RTX 4090 VENTUS 3X E 24G OC Grafikkarte, 2x WD Black SN850X NVMe SSD 4 TB - Drive C+D, WD Gold Enterprise Class 12 TB for storage HDD, Thermaltake Toughpower GF3 1000W PC - Power supply, Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO CPU Aircooler with 7 Heatpipes, Design Meshify 2 White TG Clear Tint Tower-Case, 3x 4K monitors 2x32 Samsung 1x27 LG 3840x2160, Windows11 Prof. 23H2 - now Windows11 Prof. 25H2 Flightsimulator Hardware: Honeycomb Throttle Bravo, Logitech Extreme 3D Pro, Logitech Flight Joke System, XBox Controller, some Thrustmaster stuff, Winwing CDU Panels.

They really messed up something on the CPU side, if you look at the FPS windows in MSFS, you will the main thread utilization latency being higher than usual and then when you fly over photogrammetry or new areas that needs new Orthos, the main thread utilization latency goes higher and higher and thus the stutters increase. And yet, for me, (it's only happened twice), the FPS drop it temporary. It recovers after around a minute. It feels like there's something like memory being swapped about behind the scenes?

The GPU usage goes down because the CPU usage of at least one core (usually the last core, e.g. core 15 on an i7) goes 100%. The Main Thread is the bottleneck then so the GPU gets nothing much to do. Open the Task Manager/Performance/CPU and activate the Logical Processors view (names might differ, my system ist not in english). Then take a look on the cores and what happens when the fps drop.
March 13, 20215 yr Are we really sure about this fps drop. I deactivated all my add-ons in the community folder except the hard-linked ones (ORBX etc.) and repeated a flight in the area where I had the stutters / low GPU usage. Now everything seems to be normal, GPU usage @ 90-100%, fps 30+, flying more than 20 minutes in this area where a got strong fps drop before. According to my add-ons it could be: WT G3000, AI ships, Trees Fix together wit LOD change, ... - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).

March 13, 20215 yr I agree with Cheese .Just spawn over the Oroville Dam and do circles around it. On the east side of the dam its smooth as silk as soon as you cross the middle of the dam to the west side its a complete stutter fest with both cpu and gpu tanking. As you do circles this keeps repeating. I believe this is replicated throughout the sim and explains why people flying in remote areas for apparently no reason are suddenly getting the cpu slam and sudden frame drops in fps. Asobo needs to fix this fast its not good enough for them to say its your system we cant reproduce this. GPU drops way low and frames tanks. It recovers for awhile and starts all over again.
