May 14, 20215 yr I love the aircraft and it flies nicely, as I stated several times already. If I wouldn't like it I wouldn't bother about the bugs. Would it be better to not mention them? Karl i9-9900K@5,0 | 32GB 3200 | 2080TI | 4K 55" | MSFS | P3D V5
May 14, 20215 yr Kalm down Karl, I was just joking. The World is divided into two groups. Those who say "Give me a link" and those that provide the link. WWG1WGA

May 14, 20215 yr By the way anyone know good communication pipeline with Black Box. I have sent them emails via support in the past but have never received reply. May 14, 20215 yr They seem to be pretty active on the official MSFS forum. See, for instance, https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/bn2-islander-available-now-from-blackbox-simulation/394104/395 Peter
May 16, 20215 yr I decided to pick it up this arvo and when I loaded into the cockpit I have to admit I wasn't immediately blown away. Having said that on a 780 card I have everything set to low and the screenshots do look a lot better so I'm not going to judge it on that front as I simply don't have a good enough PC do do so but I guess Carenado planes even at low settings do hold up better at closer inspection as I also picked up the Seneca today. I'm having a lot of fun with this islander though once I started to take it to the skies, it's pretty unique when it comes to where you can fly this thing despite the size it is, I guess until the Twin Otter gets released (I expect that to be a while still) this is a lot of fun for short commuter flights. And yikes this stops and turns on a dime, certainly the first aircraft of this size I can actually land at the outer skerries with runway to spare and turn around! I've been flying it around the East Frisian islands, another set of perfect strips for this bird and also a a lot of fun between the Colorado ranchers scenery airports you can find on flightsim.to. Skmz another fave of mine is another perfect match for this type of plane and of course the airports around the PNW. Sounds are really good too, the engines and creaking sounds when moving on the ground are excellent. The night lighting is pretty immersive as well. A few things break the immersion like the engines don't sound any louder when you open the window or doors, switches make no sound, the clickspots for the doors are also pretty bad but hopefully the developer keeps improving upon those shortcomings which apparently is going to be the case. Overall I think it has more pluses than minuses, it may not be everyone's cup of tea but if this type of plane appeals and you can live with some of its (current) shortcomings I don't think you will be disappointed once you actually start flying this.

June 12, 20214 yr Any news regarding an update for this plane? It's ruined for me by the lack of something as simple as some click sounds for switches in the cockpit.

According to Graham himself over at the MSFS forums, he's presently looking for a sound coder to help with sounds he can't code himself. Whether this means he'll actually pay a sound coder to create sounds for his GA aircraft is unknown. Personally, I would suggest he pull Antony from the Airbus v .90 coding and have him do it, but he's been very busy working on that for over 3 years now, and has been at 90% complete for at least 2 years, so best not to disturb him while he finishes up that last 10% of an update moving from .87 to .90. While I know coding progress is not linear, extrapolating the current rate of progress, I should be getting my A340 v1.0 in about 9 to 12 years, conservatively.🤔 And I don't suggest you ask Graham about it, he seems a little touchy about the whole Airbus line of his company. But rest assured (because he says so) that work is still in progress on it. And hey...at least he didn't release this plane with the switches upside down like he did with the Birddog. Unfortunately I have another issue. I get a CTD with the Islander if I have my Saiteck auto throttle multi panel connected. And I can't seem to find a way to contact support?

Oh....he has an official BBS support forum...but he has completely abandoned it. So no use asking for support there. August 3, 20214 yr Is this worth picking up today? Does it work in the SU-5? AMD 5800x | Nvidia 3080 (12gb) | 64gb ram

Here is what I said... > Another update on this. A superb one. For people who have this aircraft, listen to the sounds inside and out after the update. The tone transitions on the prop are now amazing, I was blown away, plus they implemented the WWise as promised. Whatever happened before with the Airbus people go on about, I really respect Black Box for the continual improvements to this plane, and the Bird Dog. ADDED - WWISE fully interactive 3d Sound set ADDED - Landing gear effects, wet, snow, dust, etc ADDED - Environment Occlusion for cabin ADDED - Vieques Air Link Livery TWEAKED - Engine performance TWEAKED - Throttle response TWEAKED - CHT TWEAKED - EGT Another small update is due shortly for a small SU5 issue (since released, version 1.2.1 I think). < In summary, the new sounds are superb, but it still suffers from slightly low res textures and polys in some areas when viewed from close up. I like the aircraft enough to forgive it this issue though. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.
