Envtex & Envshade Updated

I also find this haze very realistic. I think that older simulators (up to FSX) gave "unlimited" visibility in the default weather configuration, and many users apparently have gotten so used to it that they have become blind to the fact that there is always some haze in the real world. Just take a look at some real-life pictures.

It's the summertime in Texas. Thats about as real as it gets!

I live about 2 or 3 miles north of where that shot was taken so I'm very familiar with summertime in Texas. I don't disagree but the entire world isn't that hazy all the time. It just seems overdone.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong here but I’m getting the dreaded DXGI Device Hung error after installing the latest version of Envshade.

I reinstalled Envdir, Envshade, the P3D 5.2 client, deleted shaders and shaderHLSL file, rebooted PC between steps all to no avail.

The sim crashes during the “compiling initial shaders” steps before the scenario is loaded.

Is anyone else seeing this?

100% correct, there are specific geographical locations around the world where haze is present and with this kind of blueish tint.
At the same time there are many other locations where you have unlimited visibility without this blueish tint. As an interesting example, sometimes in UAE you will notice a haze effect but with a goldish tint. Another example in locations like Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing you will notice haze with a grayish tint.
This situation is not realistic at all to be represented as norm. With a good wx program we should have this representation based on metar or forecast,. Active sky can do it very nice, but this haze and blueish tint should not be the normal or standard as a clear day.

Unfortunately, appears my highways at night are still a very bright orange.  Does anyone have any suggestions or at least experience with the latest Envshade update in 5.2?  Thanks.

Sure and thanks for trying to help.

For the admin: Evga GTX 1080 Ti Black, i9 9900K @ 5.2, 32 GB RAM (Corsair LED something), SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 1TB - M.2 NVMe, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Hero (Wi-Fi). Pretty old driver but gave me no dxgi hung error until I installed envshade (NVIDIA 456.71).

P3dv5.2 EA on Vol clouds to medium, all shadows on with the exception of vegetation cast, particles and No shadow flagged content. Scenery complexity (ectremely dense), Autogen and scenery draw distance (medium), Autogen veg and building both Dense.

Envshade Settings:

High Performance

All normal except: Scenery brightness (high), Aircraft shadows depth (High) and Horizon haze (very low)

AE Enabled ticked (green)

Thanks again

There is  an update on Simmarket which gives you this download: TOGA_ENVTEX_P3D-V5_EXPANSION,  You need to apply it to clear that message.

- - -

To get rid of the terrible looking roads :

- disable Auto Exposure in P3D (you can still use the 3 HDR sliders )

- in EnvShade : lower the Terrain saturation

- in EnvShade : lower HDR night bloom if needed

I will ask Maxime to change the Expression of the Terrain saturation so it will be lower at night.

Regards, Gerard

Thanks for the heads up on the update. Reinstalled and no issues with 5.2. Good tips provided on getting to know how to use it better. Another complimentary addon that really enhances the P3D experience and environment.

Only hassle I had was a tussle with the anti-viral program wanting to bin the update download.

So, is it worth it?

I want to use this with EA enabled.

I have to agree with GSalden that reducing Terrain Saturation to a minimum helps a lot with the steet lighting colour at night. The street lights turn from burning red lava to light orange lights. Much more realistic in my opinion.

The problem is, though, that the terrain becomes utterly colourless during daytime. This can be remedied by increasing saturation in P3D, but the terrrain colour does then become somewhat intense in my opinion. So I would, again, agree with GSaldens suggestion to introduce a variable terrain saturation effect - normal saturation during daytime, and minimum saturation during nighttime. Would it be possible to introduce such a change?
