June 24, 20214 yr So this is interesting. TheFlyingFabio is a Twitch streamer (who was the first to live stream the DC-6 on Twitch before it was released) who was a CFI (I think) and worked for Flight Safety before. Fabio has some good connections with many 3rd party developers. For example, Fabio got early access to the DC-6 to stream it live on Twitch before its release, and Randazzo was on Fabio's chat as Fabio was streaming it. Many other 3rd party developers like to get Fabio to try out their product before release (or shortly after release) for more exposure & marketing. In addition, Fabio will often bring on many 3rd party developers into his stream for an interview. To make a long story short, Fabio says that 3rd party developers he talked to who made other products for FSX, P3D, and X-Plane before, are now making a killing selling their products in MSFS: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1066067971?t=4h22m11s Fabio's comment is of course, anecdotal, but it appears to be consistent with other tidbits, such as Aerosoft saying the sales of the CRJ in MSFS was so good for Aerosoft, it raised a few glasses, etc. Edited June 24, 20214 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM
June 24, 20214 yr That is very good news if true. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro
June 24, 20214 yr I sure hope this "killing" is being done thru the Marketplace shop. Some people feel it necessary to help fatten the Microsoft bottom line. -J 13700KF | RTX 4090 @ 1440 | 64GB DDR5 | 2 x 1TB SSDs | 1TB M.2 NVMe
June 24, 20214 yr Makes sense. Sales seem great, player numbers are high (tried buying a HOTAS unit since last summer?), lots of YouTube and Twitch streamers are essentially advertising the sim and its addons for free, the console release is coming up and will bring in even more players, also through XBox game pass. Flight simming is finally coming out of its niche again.
June 24, 20214 yr Good for the flight simmer devs. They deserve it after all these years. Regards bs AMD RYZEN 9 5900X 12 CORE CPU - ZOTAC RTX 3060Ti GPU - NZXT H510i ELITE CASE - EVO M.2 970 500GB DRIVE - 32GB XTREEM 4000 MEM - XPG GOLD 80+ 650 WATT PS - NZXT 280 HYBRID COOLER
June 24, 20214 yr This is great for the hobby. Not only long time simmers, but all the new comers, and those who have lost and now rekindled their desire to fly. One thing I think is huge, is benchmarking. When was the last time you saw flight simulator included in benchmarks before MSFS? Rarely if at all. Now you see it in hardware benchmarks all the time. Its one of the go to titles to see how hardware is performing. That alone is more marketing= more sales for everyone. CYVR LSZH I7-14700k 64gb 6000Mhz DDR5 ASUS z690 ROG STRIX Gaming RTX 4080 Super,
June 24, 20214 yr Maybe the gap of almost one decade without a new generation sim has been good in the long term. Everyone got hungry for flightsimming.

June 24, 20214 yr Okay lets be honest, have you ever noticed explosion of DC-6 screenshots or YouTube/Twitch videos/streams before MSFS DC-6 version has been released? For sure, PMDG made a "killing" out of the DC-6 and I can even picture they will make double killing when they release the 737NG, especially if they keep the price lower as the case with the DC-6 that its counterpart in P3D. June 24, 20214 yr Why do certain people see the need to keep justifying that MSFS is a success. Of course its a success and will be for another 5-10 years until the next big thing comes along and then it will be dropped like a hot potato. Its all part of a cycle of: FS200, FSX, P3D, now MSFS is the king and queen of simming. X-Plane has survived and thrived through it all funny enough. Why are people so afraid if we don't buy from the marketplace or if sells of 3rd party products are not good they will just fold up shop on 5 years of development. MSFS is successful. They are not going to shut down anytime soon or at least until Google teams up with Rock Star Games and comes out with their version of flight simulation. Sean Green
June 24, 20214 yr Yea but It is no longer just a bunch of us old fogeys waiting for a significant release but hopefully MSFS will make the 'killing' go on and on, and on. Again, congrats to the devs. Cheers bs AMD RYZEN 9 5900X 12 CORE CPU - ZOTAC RTX 3060Ti GPU - NZXT H510i ELITE CASE - EVO M.2 970 500GB DRIVE - 32GB XTREEM 4000 MEM - XPG GOLD 80+ 650 WATT PS - NZXT 280 HYBRID COOLER

This I agree with. I can't really see them making a killing off the DC6 though. It's like a niche of a niche of a niche hehe. Then again maybe people see the PMDG name and just drool like crazy!
