So ask the question again. June 24, 20214 yr There's really no need to say MSFS is a success because that should be obvious to all at this point. And that success should be important to all of us. This is a cloud-based solution so we cannot run this thing without Microsoft's servers. I tend to think that this project means even more to MS, as it is a great test bed for their technology and will impact other MS businesses down the road. This is a cornerstone to their strategy and killing it down the road would be a black eye for the company. They are ALL IN imo. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 96GB DDR5 | 4K G-Sync | Win11 Pro

Then again maybe people see the PMDG name and just drool like crazy! Fabio said it! I see tons of pictures of it from several users on the official Discord and on Reddit. It's a small sample size sure.

Bottom line is MS/Asobo needs the cash flow to keep the project going over the years as they claim or it will fall like other FS before it. Doing it for the love and passion don't cut it with the big chiefs in Seattle anymore like others do it (that's why MSFS created a in house store "Marketplace"). They need numbers for it to exist or we are back to XP, P3D and even FSX, thats a step backwards if you ask me.. That being said developers like PMDG and A2A i'd rather buy from them directly instead of the MP just for the support alone and they deserve more than a 30-50% cut from MP and Steam but I'd gladly pay for a few scenery's in the MP if that means to contribute MSFS progression over the coming years. Of course its a success and will be for another 5-10 years until the next big thing comes along and then it will be dropped like a hot potato. Its all part of a cycle of: FS200, FSX, P3D, now MSFS is the king and queen of simming. X-Plane has survived and thrived through it all funny enough. Why are people so afraid if we don't buy from the marketplace or if sells of 3rd party products are not good they will just fold up shop on 5 years of development. MSFS is successful. They are not going to shut down anytime soon or at least until Google teams up with Rock Star Games and comes out with their version of flight simulation. Ah but, What if MS/Asobo keep it up to date? ie like Windows, it gets major updates to keep it progressing all the time... No end to development.
