It looks like if you have an AMD CPU, which I do, there is a built in TPM type protection with that CPU.

Why not run the MS app that checkes if you are ok for W11.

How do you tell if you have this TPM thing?

I went to bios and found TPM under security tab. Then I enabled it and rebooted PC again. After PC loaded I use tool form link above that show that TPM is enabled. Then I went to windows 11 site and download some kind of PC check that check my PC and said it Windows 11 ready

I just ran "tpm.msc" and got a "TPM Management on Local Computer" screen.  the Status says: "TPM is ready for use". Am I good to go or do I still have to go into the BIOS and change something?

Regards

I just did and it tells me my 4month old PC, won't run windows 11, and I should buy a new one. Thanks Microsoft.

Oh well. My PC can't run it. Was looking for an excuse to upgrade anyway. Though MSFS runs just fine as it is.

Yes, that compatibility app wasn't much help for anyone.

Luckily, almost very CPU that is able to run MSFS at an acceptable level should have the inbuilt TPM solution anyway, fTPM for AMD or PTT for Intel.

Everyone, just please read this thread from the beginning. If you can run MSFS with your current CPU, you problably won't need any hardware for TPM.

I just ran the PC Checker and it said I was Windows 11 ready as well, I assume I don't need to do anything further. I'll leave it at that.

Thanks

I had to go thru several changes to the Security settings in the BIOS, including changing from UEFI + LEGACY, to UEFI only (after reading the fine print on TPM and Windows 11, and to run USB Restore Media to be able to boot, then changed from PTT to dPTT, then had to change the type to 2.0, then back to PTT, and finally was able to get the Windows 11 is ready, thankfully!  Confusing!

Considering how many people on this thread alone have TPM capability on their system buy weren't aware it was disabled or even that it existed (it was disabled on mine), M$ are going to have a lot of people complaining that their very new systems can't run Win 11 if they don't make that very obvious on the Win 11 info page that it is likely there and how to enable it if the tracker says No.

Please activate "Firmware TPM" and all is fine. You don´t need a TPM-chip.

Thank you, Dieter!

I'll try it out!

Enable firmware TPM and you're good to go for Windows 11. It's built in. You may notice some initial lagging upon rebooting but it will clear up and be back to normal.

Thank you, Stykc!

Thanks chaps. I hate delving into the BIOS, I tend to break things! Used a search bar for PTT, enabled and voila! I am Windows 11 compliant. My MB is a Rog Maximus XII Hero (Wi-Fi) 😊

Bizzare. I turned on fTPM in the BIOS and can see that it is enabled when I run tpm.msc but it still is saying it can't run windows 11.
