June 25, 20214 yr I think it was hand crafted for the USA World Update, but don't remember, but still, it's a part of the default sim, with the World Updates. Maybe someone remembers? June 25, 20214 yr Doering, is your RV an ex YLW bird, it looks familiar? Great video, this sim continues to amaze!
June 25, 20214 yr Amazing, I was not expecting it to be so close. The one criticism I have of MSFS vs RW is the lighting on the buildings, always seems so dark, if they can modify that a bit it would make a big difference. You can also really see the difference in tree size in this comparison, smaller trees in MSFS is another thing that will help make the comparison even better....and it is great already. Mark CYYZ

Maybe someone remembers? Yep, that was it. It looked pretty poor by default, but the USA update specifically hit this area. It is really amazing what the sim can do. ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
June 25, 20214 yr MSFS uses Bing data so it should look like it does in actual flight shouldn't it? Sean Green

Well, Bing, MSFS, Azure, whatever has issues with a lot of items close to the ground. Why it was hand crafted I'm sure, and why most POI's are! I remember people saying it looked odd, when MSFS first came out! Hey, I am not complaining, hand craft away I say! Same with the docks and such, they just can't get it right from an aerial view yet? And individuals also clean areas up sometimes and post them on fligtsim.to 🙂 "Coffee, if your not shaking, you need another cup" Flight Sim Break Discord Channel: https://discord.com/invite/fCV62Ka2QZ

June 25, 20214 yr Author Thanks everyone for your comments and watching! @jhaley101 I had to switch to headphones for the final editing process as my wife had maxed out listening to Sirius and Love on a Real Train. I have been waiting a long time to incorporate these tunes into a video. I could listen to these endlessly! @Baber20 Yes, with a little haze scattering, a reduction in tree size and some mist, we would be exceptionally closer. But pretty darn good. @HighTowers And a little more water action would be great. I think the next update includes some emphasis to waves and float dispersion from the amphibious a/c @fakeflyer737 Completely default. No mods anywhere. I believe there is a mod for simulation movement in the waterfalls. @in2tech The Falls looked terrible in the initial release. I wanted to make this video several months ago, but the Falls just didn’t cut it. Somewhere in the midst of all the updates I was pleasantly surprised to see that they were fixed and so here we are. @YLWDownwind Good eye. Yes, this RV was built in Kelowna. I had the pleasure of flying it over the Rocky Mountains and prairies to my home base in Brantford! @MarkW Yes, the lighting on the taller buildings often seems dark. Realistic if viewing opposite to the sun setting, but hey, I’m not complaining. June 26, 20214 yr Can really see how big the MSFS trees are! Great vid, thanks. [email protected] | 32gb RAM | EVGA GTX1080 8gb | Mostly P3Dv5 (also IL2:BoX, DCS, XP11)
June 26, 20214 yr Greta vid! As Doering says above, there was a mod with the waterfalls actually working, and it didn't look too bad. (nice lights added at night time as well) My thoughts are that it won't play nicely with Asobo's latest update though, as I believe the mod author had to reprofile the falls a bit, and this would overwrite the Asobo improvements. June 26, 20214 yr Compared to the real world footage MSFS is still pretty much flying on rails (yes i know MSFS was AP engaged). 😛 Intel i9-13900K | Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Master | RTX4090 | 2x16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 | Be quiet! Pure Loop 2 FX AiO | Win 11

Who do you believe? There are as many different opinions as their are people. From my limited real life experience, MSFS seems to behave about as I would expect. The movement when flying next to or over ridges is particularly well done I think. Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind). Yes it jiggles, so does it in real life but ingame you can't really feel the difference between an empty or a fully loaded, heavy plane. In real life you feel like being a part of the plane....one of the first things i learned back in my gliding days was to use my "Popometer" which in english might be something like "Buttmeter" (If this is a word...) to feel the planes motions. This of course (and this is not a complaint) is missing in MSFS. But i agree that the overall feeling is quite good! June 26, 20214 yr Thanks for the video. Very entertaining comparison. Wish we had more areas to compare. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .

I think in English we would call it something close to your suggestion - a Buttometer! True, the feeling of inertial in MSFS is a bit low. I find my JF Arrow jiggles about like it is a feather sometimes, and all planes change direction too quickly on the runway, which also causes them to weave from side-to side a lot (amongst other issues like overreaction to sidewind etc.) Even though Doering's RV9 is a relatively light aircraft, you can still see the momentum effect. It should be something similar to the movement of a pendulum, accelerating into the move rather than just moving around instantly at a fixed rate. I think Asobo responded to criticism / feedback of the lack of momentum early on, and they said they would attend to it. I am not sure if they did entirely.
