it's nothing like FSX pop-in

That’s because there was never any ‘FSX pop-in’.

@Bobsk8The cause you describe is very unlikely. Much more like it's one of the sharpening filters, you change them in cfg. Do check the update hasn't reset some of your graphic settings too.

Change them where, what cfg, the aircraft or MSFS?  I thought tweaking to get a sim to work well, like in the FS9 days, was a thing of the past, but I guess not.

AN ENTIRE BRIDGE SPANNING A RIVER POPPED IN.  Garbage.. Garbage Garage.. PC users were robbed

The only thing I see in your video, is a very clever and NOT "stuttery" way of improving fps by removing something you are not supposed to see.

- If the pop-up was so fast you couldn't noticed, it would be because many objects were created at the same time, resulting in stuttering. It's not immediate, because is not trying to recreate all objects in the same frame, but is cleverly spreading the load across several frames, hence the small delay. Are you supposed to fly using the camera in a Matrix-style bullet time ?

- If there was no object removal whatsoever, you won't see any pop-up, but VRAM usage would likely increase and fps would go down, and I'm sure people would say something like "this sim is an unoptimized garbage, it drawing stuff I'm not supposed to see, that's why is so slow!"

@Bobsk8Well first thing is to check what the anti-aliasing settings are in the MFS options UI. If that all seems as you expect then you can try changing these settings:

If you want to avoid any kind of tweaking I suggest you get an Xbox 🤣 PCs have always needed some fettling (annoyingly), it's the nature of the beast. Although up until now I have avoided it with MFS beyond changing settings in the UI.

Why should we worry about that? You think Ms is going to cancel a project just because 3 people stopped playing?

You have utterly failed to comprehend the message. Well done.

No I know what he's saying, I just don't see the need for the doom and gloom because most of the Xbox gamers gets bored with the game

Except this is not the same product I bought and was happy with. This is a downgrade and I have no option to disable this "feature".

ASUS ROG STRIX Z390-E GAMING / i9-9900k @ 4.7 all cores w/ NOCTUA NH-D15S / 2080ti / 32GB G.Skill 3200 RIPJAWS / 1TB Evo SSD / 500GB Evo SSD /  2x 3TB HDD / CORSAIR CRYSTAL 570X / IPSG 850W 80+ PLATINUM / Dual 4k Monitors

But the idea that they are "pandering" to console users is just patently ridiculous on it's face.

Maybe console users are complaining right now, because MSFS is clunky to use with the default gamepad, probably requires to buy an Hotas controller and works better with a keyboard and mouse connected, clearly showing it was made to "pander" PC users...

Maybe that is the goal of MS, to create so many negatives in the PC version, even on a $2,000 PC, that people will just go out and buy an X box..... MSFS 2020 did not need one "tweak" prior to SU5. Looks like those days are gone now.

Bob, at the moment I'd just give them a few days to digest and respond to some of the issues being reported.  This update features some major rendering changes in the name of hardware optimization, and it was pretty inevitable that some stuff would get wonky or break by accident on PC.

Yeah, literally the single biggest criticism I've seen of the sim on Xbox so far has been that the menus are clunky due to the use of a fake "cursor".  Little did they know they were being pandered to this whole time!

How dare a company which makes an entertainment console and has a network specifically for distributing its software titles for that console, make some entertainment software for that console. It's an outrage! 🤣

It is impossible to please everyone.

However if it was me, I would have made this setting "optional", set as default but capable of being changed, this way people could decide what they wanted on the PC version..

Maybe people can just go to MSFS and suggest this idea, if enough voices are raises, who know they might implement it..

Yup, if only there was some kind of scrolling device shaped for the palm of your hand with some buttons on it, which you could plug into a computer or console via a wire. It'd look a bit like a mouse with a tail what with that wire coming out of it.

I wish people would get over the "console" versus "PC" thing.

I often hook up my wireless XBox gamepad to my PC to play games.  You can hook a flight yoke and rudder pedals to an XBox.

These are both PCs, one just comes in a smaller/cuter form factor and gets you a lot of bang for your buck.  The only valid complaints I can see is that they are changing the user interface to be more friendly to controllers, and that there is texture loading glitches due to having to port it to a slightly lower-powered device.

This isn't the place for "get off my lawn" or "the video game kids are ruining mah sim!".

I'm sure they will add PC-specific sliders/controls down the road so that any discrepancies are all sorted out.
