July 28, 20214 yr Well, I have been aggravated with Thrustmaster mapping changes in the past, after SUs, so have been my friends. I know how it feels. And there was no XboX , console hate back in those days. Edited July 28, 20214 yr by Aristoteles Iñigo Bildarratz
July 28, 20214 yr Well, at least this thread's title clearly indicates what the content will be - though, as is typical, it's often stated in the most obnoxious and wrong-headed way possible. Asobo has made a big leap forward in what they can do in terms of optimizations, but as they've said many times before, that sort of work will span many updates. I'm sure they'll give options or otherwise get back to enabling the supposed "perfect world" we were in pre-SU5 for those with heavy-duty hardware, but for the majority of folks I think this new default mode works wonderfully. The whole anti-console bit is getting super old, however. Optimizations made to enable XBox also make the PC experience better for many, many PC users. Stop with the snobbery word not allowed.
July 28, 20214 yr Probably going to go against the grain here; not tried it on my PC yet but I've just got it all installed on my fresh out-the-box Series S and I'm blown away, it's epic. Controls are going to take a bit of getting used to as particularly camera and viewpoints as I'm not used to using a controller but I can see myself flying a lot more on Xbox going forward. July 28, 20214 yr To be a bit more optimistic and positive: I'm really happy that MSFS is reaching more people, both on Xbox and PC. People with completely normal hardware will be able to enjoy a fluid and optimized flight simulator experience. That sort of thing used to be reserved for those who maxed out their credit cards (*cough) I think this update will change some of the reputation of MSFS as being the new "But can it run Crysis" game. This is really important for those of us who are worried the focus will be all Xbox from now on. We need to spread the word that the simulator is now much more efficient and optimized on PC. It's a very important way of increasing the userbase on PC. That being said, we should be allowed to be critical of features/bugs that don't work as intended, of running Xbox optimized code for DX12 on a DX11 PC. Some people seem to almost get offended that people aren't always having the best experience and are lashing out in the forums. Just because you don't experience these bugs, doesn't mean they're not there. Just be polite and patient. Not arrogant. I can't imagine doing an airline flight with the Airbus from point A to point B on the Xbox for example, the controller makes it too fiddly and I need my charts open alongside etc. But for VFR flying, low and slow and enjoying the view, the Xbox is perfect. Agreed, sharing issues politely works great, and helps the developers understand what else needs fixing. Threads with obvious clickbait titles and laden with bizarre Xbox conspiracy theories aren't really that, though, right?

Spending money in the Marketplace? They need a big sale boost, and that's all, then, they know it;s us PC users who will continue to spend money on th sim, not console users. July 28, 20214 yr So theres no way to avoid this update? I dont have it yet. My game is running super smooth, no CTDs at all scenery looks good. Reading other comments Im afraid to start it now lol. Will see what happens when I use the firewall to block MSFS from internet access, hope it still works. I dont mind flying with degraded visuals. Even THAT will look a gazillion times better than FSX on my ancient system.

July 28, 20214 yr Wow what a thread lol. Aside from the frequent CTDs and temp bug, I'm extremely happy with this update. I've genuinely NEVER had such a fluid and stutter-free flight sim experience from cold and dark to de boarding. I flew an arrival into KEWR with everything on Ultra in the FBW A320NX and never dipped below 45 FPS. Amazing. Absolutely unreal. I remember spending HOURS tweaking FSX and X-Plane to get even 25 FPS in modestly built up areas to no avail. Are there things that can be improved for PC users? Yes, and I'm sure Asobo will get there. We can only go up from here. Former Child, Current Adult
